well, florida atlantic can't be in, and they won't take 2 from the ivy league. right? Probably not 2 from the Ivy League, although Harvard has a 35 RPI for some reason. Although, if any school can think of a way to game the RPI system, it'd be Harvard.
If we beat Charlotte tomorrow, we clinch a playoff spot. Our magic number for the division is 3. It could be down to 1 at the end of tomorrow. 2 for the division. Indiana lost tonight. Bulls own the tiebreaker.
Arkansas-Little Rock wins the Sun Belt as the 9 seed. Princeton won at Penn to force a one-game playoff Saturday against Harvard at Yale. Milwaukee coming back against Butler, and Oral Roberts coming back against Oakland in the second half.
Well, they did beat Harvard, so I'm sure they can beat 3 better teams than they have all year in 3 days to win the tournament. Forde is definitely on the meathead end of the sports analysis spectrum, though.
Sebastian Pruiti on the difference between good help and bad help, focusing on two nearly identical plays between the Bulls and Heat with two completely different results.
Auto bids up for tonight: - Sun Belt final between what are essentially the 7 and 9 seeds. A likely 16 seed to the winner, and if UALR wins, a potential first four participant. - Ivy bid goes to Harvard if Princeton loses, and a playoff Thursday if Princeton wins. - Summit final between Oakland and Oral Roberts. Oakland was the third most dominating team in conference play (behind Belmont, Utah State), and a potential sleeper tournament team. - Horizon final between Butler and Milwaukee, in Milwaukee. Milwaukee was actually the 5th best team in the Horizon league, but swept Butler to win the conference tiebreaker in a tightly packed group at the top. Butler still a potential at-large even with a loss, so bubble teams everywhere are rooting for them.
It's CONCACAF, anybody that wasn't Costa Rica was going to be a great draw (since Mexico and Honduras were guaranteed to head the other groups). The knockout round is set up so that the QF matchup will be...a third-place team, and the SF matchup would likely be whoever finishes 2nd out of Costa Rica/Mexico.
2011 Gold Cup groups announced: Group A: Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Cuba Group B: Honduras, Guatemala, Jamaica, Grenada Group C: United States, Canada, Panama, Guadeloupe I guess I forgot that T&T failed to qualify.
Michigan would have been much better off getting the 5 seed and facing Illinois. Seriously, though, Illinois and Michigan are in a position to get another quality win without the risk of a bad loss, while MSU and PSU are risking bad losses before they even get a shot at a quality win.
Hmmm...their SBnation blog doesn't seem to be too rough. Heh, they had a bullet point in the recap ripping the Bulls and how easy they are to defend and would struggle to get out of the first round if they depended on Rose so much, but it appears the author deleted it. Wait why do Hornet's Fans hate Rose and the Bulls? PG envy.
Damn you Thibs http://i56.tinypic.com/153br7r.jpg He has to have Coach of the Year pretty much locked, right? Now that it looks like the Spurs won't win 70, yep. Pops is the only competition.
Interesting data from a SBNation blog post about how different the Bulls are offensively/defensively depending on who is playing shooting guard (Bogans, Brewer, Korver, Watson). Turns out, the Bulls are the most efficient offensive team in the NBA during the 500 or so minutes Korver is on the floor with Rose, Deng and Boozer, and the most efficient defensive team in NBA history when Brewer joins them (I'm sure Noah helps, but there isn't much data with Noah+Boozer together yet).
Pomeroy's log5 analysis on all the conference tourneys that start today (aside from the Big East, which will get its own column later): http://www.basketballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=667 The Southland is hilarious.

Looking at it, the all-Big Ten first team is especially strong this year, and pretty clear: Jared Sullinger JaJuan Johnson Jon Leuer Jordan Taylor E'Twaun Moore POY likely either Sullinger or Johnson.
