  1. Jordan Hamilton, I'd pick.
  2. This year, I'll also make my lists public, in case anybody had any questions as to whether I did my own (and open myself up for criticism, because I can handle it. :P ). Spoilering each list to save reading space for those who don't care. Rep: Illinois (so not in any of these lists) Locks (38 max, random order): Consideration (again, random order): Top 12 (in order):
  3. Four conference championships tonight: VCU tries to steal a bid in the CAA, Gonzaga-St. Mary's in the WCC, with the loser arguably very much in the at-large discussion, the SoCon final between Wofford and Charleston, and the Metro Atlantic final between Iona and St. Peter's. Also a reminder to get me your 3 lists (and team) by the end of tomorrow to start the selection process.
  4. The Bulls are now 11-6 against the rest of the top 8 in the league (Spurs, Lakers, Celtics, Heat, Magic, Mavs, Thunder). However, since the December 3 loss to the Celtics, they're 10-0 against those teams (v OKC, v LAL, v BOS, v MIA, v DAL, v ORL, v SAS, v MIA, @ ORL, @ MIA)
  5. ...by the bye?
  6. So you're saying Illinois has a chance. I'm totally and completely biased, but in the right bracket, Illinois totally has a chance. I'm also begging for a 4 St. John's-13 Belmont matchup, so that we can have the first 4-13 matchup that log5 actually favors the 13 seed outright.
  7. I'm guessing that doesn't look much different than Illinois' resume. We have the bad loss to UIC and probably better overall wins against Gonzaga and UNC, same conference record, and got blasted by OSU at their place. And we're virtually a lock. Illinois has better good wins, a much tougher NCSOS, a worse bad loss (UIC won two other games the rest of the year...the king of bad losses), and the loss at OSU was one of the closer home games OSU played this year, actually. Plus, Illinois has less to lose and more to gain in the BTT, just because of the seeding.
  8. Disclaimer: This is meaningless in the long run, I know. But, it's fun. Today's Hollinger ratings: 1. Lakers 107.117 2. Bulls 107.114 3. Spurs 106.691 4. Heat 105.823 5. Celtics 105.753 6. Mavericks 105.223 7. Magic 105.126 Rest of NBA - WHO CARES Hollinger's playoff odds- projected final East standings: 1. Celtics 60-22 2. Bulls 59-23 3. Heat 56-26 4. Magic 52-30 NBA finals odds: 1. Bulls 32.6% 2. Spurs 29.8% 3. Lakers 27.9% 4. Celtics 23.3% 5. Heat 21.2% 6. Mavericks 16.8% 7. Magic 14.8% NBA championship odds: 1. Bulls 17.9% 2. Spurs 17.8% 3. Lakers 15.4% 4. Celtics 11.3% 5. Heat 10.4% 6. Mavericks 8.5% 7. Magic 7.1%
  9. Ken Pomeroy on overvaluing road play: http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/on_overvaluing_road_play_again/
  10. I was surprised to hear the CBS guys talk about them as a legit bubble team. I thought they'd been getting underrepresented in the conversation, but I think they need a BTT Championship run to be viable. I think they clearly have a better resume than Alabama...for what it's worth.
  11. The Ohio State-Wisconsin game today had 58 possessions, slower than all but one NCAA team's average (hint, that team played in this game). And OSU still scored 93 points.
  12. Quick turnaround now with a home game against NO. Be nice to not have a letdown now that they finally have control of second in the East. In a related note, CP3 left the court on a stretcher tonight in Cleveland with an apparent head injury. Has movement of extremities, but I don't imagine he'll go tomorrow.
  13. Big Ten tournament seeds finalized: 1. Ohio State 2. Purdue 3. Wisconsin 4. Michigan 5. Illinois 6. Penn State 7. Michigan State 8. Northwestern 9. Minnesota 10. Iowa 11. Indiana So, first round matchups are Penn State-Indiana, Michigan State-Iowa, Northwestern-Minnesota. PSU-IU winner to face Wisconsin, MSU-Iowa winner to face Purdue, NW-MIN winner to face Ohio State, with Illinois-Michigan Friday.
  14. come at me bro Hahah, I just think it's funny that general fan insecurity can take over Bulls fans despite the fact that their team is [expletive] excellent. I expect it from mediocre teams like the Bucks or something, where there fans complain that the refs are screwing them to mask the fact that the team blows, but i'd think bulls fans would be above that. To be fair, about 80% of it is Sulley trying to get the reverse jinx flowing, which never gets old, even though it happens in every sports thread on the board.
  15. St. John's is my pick to be wildly overseeded by the real committee. Wouldn't be surprised to see them snag a 4. EDIT: Also Florida.
  16. that's 15 Illinois is implied #1. ;)
  17. It's official, Indiana State wins the MVC.
  18. ISU up 1 with 25 seconds left and the ball.
  19. After blowing the Heat out of the building Friday, the Spurs are down 30-13 early against the Lakers.
  20. Looked like Miller grabbed his arm to prevent him from securing the ball. Pretty easy to see, too, even if rarely called.
  21. Is Missouri State at-large quality if they lose here to Indiana State? MVC was the 14th-rated league this year, basically the back end of the second tier of conferences (with A10, CUSA, Horizon, WAC, WCC, CAA).
  22. The only problems I was having with the officiating was how often Rose would get hammered in the paint with no call. Asik was really selling elbows down low, though, and really got Miami riled up after they were cruising early.
  23. Got to admit, didn't expect the only loss of this 5 game trip to be a collapse against Atlanta after a 20 point lead.
  24. I think ODU has a better case than Mason. My bad, I thought that was the championship. GMU out, though, and into the potential at-large pool.
  25. disgraceful. you'd think the league would have cleaned up his act after that one guy went down. In addition, the Bulls are getting outshot, outrebounded and have more turnovers. Only down 9 is encouraging.
