  1. Step 3 results: S-Curve (top 16, bottom 16): Next 16: Rest of at-large field (18): Other auto bids (2): Teams still in the discussion board (5): Teams off the board (10):
  2. 3. Another hour yet for phase 3.
  4. Basically, prior to Howard, the best recruiting talent Weber could land was Jamar Smith and Chester Frazier. However, those teams also overperformed. So, Howard is bringing in fantastic talent, but Weber hasn't been able to use it well. Hopes are that a new coach and a new offensive scheme that actually utilizes the talent would be a good thing, and Howard would continue to facilitate that talent rolling in, instead of watching it leave for Duke/UNC/Kentucky/Kansas all the time.
  5. Oregon State led Washington 84-83 with 30 seconds to play. Both teams proceeded to miss their next 7 free throws.
  6. Washington down 1 to Oregon State with 30 seconds to play. This is why I initially listed the Pac-12 favorite as LOL.
  7. San Diego State just won on a buzzer beater against Boise State.
  8. Except I'm wrong, that totally is a rematch from November 13th. So...I'll just swap Asheville and MEAC winner.
  9. Especially at a home game, like last night.
  10. On the contrary, I think that works perfectly to committee standards. Less travel for Asheville, favorable environment yet for North Carolina, and not a rematch.
  11. They were ahead of Washington, WVU, Cal and BYU. There's going to be more time to move them around.
  12. Yet another Weber special, the team timeout right after they're doing well, and 15 seconds before there would've been a TV timeout anyway.
  13. see: dribbling up and launching threes
  14. Yeah, the Illini have pretty much just quit on offense. Dribble up and launch threes.
  15. Lot of missed threes and turnovers that give Iowa easier transition opportunities.
  16. Oh, I'm way down on Louisville and Florida. Air Force is a really bad team to lose to, though. SD State through January is probably a protected seed. Since then, though, they haven't even looked tournament worthy. So I compromise them somewhere in the middle.
  17. I keep hoping that one day Illinois will realize they are bad at jump shots. Ever since that stupid Ohio State game, they think they're just that good at jump shots all the time.
  18. As for why I put them one spot higher in my ranking, it has more to do with playing more top 25 and top 50 games, winning one more of each, and having a slightly better "best win". It's a coin flip in a lot of situations for many teams.
  19. We don't, overall. They're in the same pool of 16 for ranking, and Marquette finished higher than Wisconsin in the aggregate vote from last night. As for playing for a 2 seed, I really doubt it. That top 8 is pretty locked in, and not a single voter picked any team other than that top 8 among the top 8.
  20. MS Valley State didn't win a single non-conference game in regulation. They went 1-11 in non-con, and that was the best team in the conference. The SWAC was worse than the Great West this year, and that's just sad. As far as the only one HBC in the opening round, does that just cover the MEAC and the SWAC? So, basically, pick one? I'd pick the SWAC, unless a terrible (er?) MEAC team wins their tourney.
  21. We can just toss them there, then. Updated the bracket image with dates, just to keep track.
  22. So far, then... http://i.imgur.com/ji3Mc.png
  23. I don't see a problem with a buzzer beater when the worst case scenario is having an additional 5 minutes to win. Man, those Bucks announcers are full of sour grapes about Rose, though.
  24. Yeah, he had two others where the other team had some time to get a shot off. This is the first one that left no time for an answer.
  25. And now we know that time and place: first career NBA buzzer beater.
