And Iona was 50. Both of them were ranked ahead of all the 13 seeds as well as Long Beach (a 12). Any ideas why they were unable to make this game for a 12 or a 13 seed instead of the 14? Surely there had to be 5-12 and 4-13 games that have a Thu-Sat schedule. No clue, the 12 and 13 in their region are Thursday-Saturday. Makes no sense to me. My theory: the committee totally forgot about the BYU rule and quickly had to scramble to fix it in a hurry. They've forgotten about BYU before. Theory 2: Putting BYU in Albuquerque or Portland is giving any potential 4/5 seed a first round home court disadvantage. So they had to go to Louisville or Pittsburgh, and that was the only spot that worked out (since UK is in Louisville, Syracuse and OSU are in Pittsburgh).
