  1. In like 3 innings for the Cubs. Yes, if they had given up the 3 runs or whatever they've given up in 30 innings, their ERA would be around 1. That's how it works. ERA is a limited benefit stat, and completely pointless to draw from a 3 inning sample. That's the point, spaz.
  2. because he's side armed which will really freak out the opponents. Or something. It's a varied look from the pile of young rights fireballers the Cubs have otherwise.
  3. Couple reasons, actually. Read up on it.
  4. Any reliever that allows a run is useless.
  5. As good a spot as any for a Joe Smith debut.
  6. I'm not sure you do. Particularly since the game isn't over yet.
  7. Certainly didn't look like Baez or Coghlan saw the ball very well that inning.
  8. Javy has reached the just guessing portion of the day, watching a pitch down the middle, then swinging at one a foot outside.
  9. By several definitions of the word beast.
  10. Lackey screams out to Gordon "Now that is a hit", then kisses his bicep and points back at Contreras in the dugout.
  11. Nobody should break up a no hitter with a bunt.
  12. When logic and reason are considered straw men, your point of view has absolutely no value.
  13. First out of zone swing for the Cubs is Baez swinging at a 2-0 pitch in the dirt
  14. 24 pitch inning for Koehler. Cubs averaged 4.8 P/PA. Not one swing at a ball out of the zone.
  15. Maybe he needs a few days to get over the loss of his 6th inning at bat last night, as it came practically out of left field after he'd been pitching so well.
  16. This is the last time the Cubs will play an NL East team this season.
  17. Word on the tweet is the Cubs liked the sidearm look of Smith to contrast the rest of the righties in the pen.
  18. Nathan and Montgomery and possibly Chapman available today. Matusz was just released, so likely Patton up unless something else is going on.
  19. He allowed base runners. You can't do things like allow base runners and expect to be a major league pitcher.
  20. You are both completely wrong and way out of your depth in the discussion here. Keep telling yourself that. How them Dusty wristbands holding up..? 8-) Continue demonstrating you have no concept of logic and reality, then. It's becoming clear that Maddon is apparently operating on a different plane of thinking than you. One that involves logic.
  21. No, not at all like Baker and Piniella before him. EXACTLY like them(not in "style"). I was on the ESPN boards, and then here during those times...some of the very same types thought neither one of them could do no wrong their first few years based on "intangibles" and reputation/past records etc as well.. Maddon was a complete hack again tonight, and got his ass bailed out by dumb luck. lol @ managing yourself out of position players by the end of the 10th inning and NEEDING to put a pitcher in LF AGAIN. You are both completely wrong and way out of your depth in the discussion here.
  22. In SPITE of. I guess there's one insane hater for each Cub, no matter who.
