  1. NIU gets a quick TD, but fails to recover the onside kick. That about wraps it up :x
  2. Not anymore! :D 10-3 Cincy with 6 minutes to go in the 1st half. (Reason for Smiley-I'm looking for one of WV or Lousville to lose, and then for the loser to beat the other team when they play each other) I think everyone behind both teams is. Where's Garrett Wolfe? NIU's still losing 13-7 in the 4th quarter. 16 carries 44 yards. WMU is DOMINATING that game. I think it's safe to say Ball State's losing by at least 20 next week then. WMU is killing NIU. The score doesn't reflect how awful NIU has played. Horrible Horvath's updated numbers: 6/16, 59 yards, 0 TD's, 3 INT's. Our only TD was a blocked punt that we returned for 6. Wolfe has definitely been slowed down...WMU's rush defense was among the top 10 in the country and they're living up to that stat.
  3. Indiana up 31-28 with 8 minutes left. Not only would I love to see Iowa lose, but it also makes SIU's win over Indiana look that much better :D Oh, and Phil Horvath still sucks. 2/5, 12 yards, 2 INT's. Wolfe only has 3 yards on 5 carries and it's in the 2nd quarter.
  4. Yes it is. Dating back to 2001, the last few postseasons have all been relatively exciting. This one just plain blows.
  5. Bad news for SIU...redshirt freshman Christian Cornelius injured his knee a couple days ago during a workout. He had an MRI and it found that he had a torn ACL. He's probably out for the year. He should get a medical redshirt and be able to keep all four years of eligibility. From a team standpoint this season, I don't think it will hurt us that much. I think he was probably #10 or 11 on the depth chart anyway, so who knows. We still have plenty of depth to overcome his injury. Hopefully he'll be ready to go next season.
  6. Sorry, I wasn't alive in 1969...the last time the Mets cost the Cubs anything. 2004? Victor Diaz... I prefer to think of LaTroy giving up that game with the assist to Mercker. Bingo. To me, the Mets are just another team. I hold no grudge or ill will toward them. I don't like them because they're from New York. I can't pull for a New York team. They are probably the only New York team that I can tolerate.
  7. This is why I said the Sox were a joke earlier. If you were going to pick one baseball team to have a 7-Eleven tie in, it would've been them. Truth is stranger than fiction. :ranton: The whole Sox-fan theme with the fans committing crimes is a bit over the top IMO. Most of those Sox fans like the other teams in the city that Cubs fans do. I just think it's pretty funny how people say that Sox fans "rob convenience stores" and yet during basketball season, the Bulls have a phrase saying "Welcome to the United Center, home of the world's greatest fans!" I guess those people stealing beer in a convenience store and "beating their wives" are great fans in the winter, but not in the summer. I understand hating the Sox for the crosstown reason, but to criticize a fanbase on a pointless stereotype which bashes Chicagoans as a whole, is unncessary. :rantoff:
  8. Sorry, I wasn't alive in 1969...the last time the Mets cost the Cubs anything. 2004? Victor Diaz... I prefer to think of LaTroy giving up that game with the assist to Mercker.
  9. Ugh, why isn't the preseason game on the Superstation? That pisses me off :x
  10. NO!!!!!!!!!! Pavano is a huge disaster. I remember hearing about Pavano getting injured before he even stepped on the mound for his start in the minors. Its so shocking Cory Lidle died in the plane crash today. He was a guy I would of loved to see the cubs sign as their 5th starter. If taking back Pavano is the cost of getting ARod, I wouldn't hesitate. If Pavano gets healthy he's a fine 5th starter. Neither would I, but we really can't rely on a guy with his injury history, especially in the last couple of years, to be in the rotation for the whole season.
  11. Like everyone else, I'm completely stunned. I heard about the plane crash when it happened, but I can't believe it was Cory Lidle who died. RIP Cory. Thoughts and prayers to his family :(
  12. 25 wins, with just the bench guys. It really is amazing how much depth we have this season. And I guess Dore was on the Score today. He said that Khryapa is going to make quite the impression on Bulls fans. They've been quite impressed with him and Skiles and the rest of the coaching staff believe he is going to fit into the role that Songaila was in last year, relatively well. Another thing that I got from the Bulls board I post on was about Shaq criticizing Ben Wallace in terms of Wallace complaining about his previous coaches. Shaq said something to the effect that we aren't going to be as good as we were last year. I guess he's forgetting that 2 of the 5 starters we had in the series against Miami are probably going to be the 11th and 12th men on our roster this season. Oh, by the way Shaq, we gave your team the strongest push in your championship season. To say we aren't going to be as good as we were last year is ludicrous.
  13. DePaul looking pretty good in the Big East. A young team who should get better this year. DePaul also got 2 top 40 recruits for next year and are in the running for the #3 prospect (on rivals) Rose. I am a Michigan and DePaul fan. It's really hard to be a Michigan fan after they started out 16-4 and ended up not making the tourney. I am not looking forward to another Michigan disapointment. DePaul did very well recruiting this summer. If they top it off with Rose they will be a team to watch next year. I see Katz ranked Depaul # 37 in the sizzling 50. Which is pretty cool...I can't wait until they start. DePaul could be one of the most improved teams in the country this season. They can't get much worse than what they were last year, plus like you mentioned, they had a great recruiting class. They could go from worst to first in the Big East in just a couple of years. I don't think they'll be at the top of the conference this year, but they should be able to contend for a spot in the Big Dance.
  14. SIU has extremely high expectations this season. We're going to be ranked in the top 15-20 to start out the season and we have every starter returning from last year's team as well as most of our bench players from last season. Add that in with a 3-star recruit in Josh Bone, a JUCO transfer, and a walk-on 7 footer, we are going to have some amazing depth this season. Anything less than a Sweet 16 appearance will be a disappointment. I can not wait for the basketball season to start here. Illinois is going to be a mid-pack Big 10 team this year, barring a miracle, and NIU is going to be a mid-pack to lower-pack MAC team this year. NIU lost their three top players last year and had a decent recruiting class, but I'm not expecting any of their freshman to do anything spectacular this season. As mentioned, I can not wait for the college and NBA basketball season's to get here :D
  15. Teams like the Cards and the Twins don't start home games until 7:10. The D'Backs don't start until 7:40. The Giants don't start until 7:35. I don't see what the big deal is of adding an extra minute. Like Goony said, I think it's a pretty clever deal they have; added extra income for just starting weeknight home games 4 minutes later. Not that bad of an idea at all IMO.
  16. Extremely easy decision for me. Go Mets.
  17. I'm still a sucker and believe the Pack can turn it around as we have back-to-back games against Miami and Arizona. But I'll be honest. The thought of AP or Calvin Johnson in a Packers uniform would be pretty nice. We're never going to sign a big name FA with Ted Thompson as the GM, so the only way we're going to change around our team is building it through the draft.
  18. I meant more from a national interest perspective. NBC wants everyone to be interested, not just Bronco fans. But you're right of course. If the Bears were playing the Raiders, I'd sure be tuning in. :) Raiders and football fans may still watch for a while hoping for an upset. I'm rooting for Oakland and against Detroit the rest of the way this year. Big weekend for the Panthers. Luckily, they get a Monday night team from last week for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. Let's see if Peppers can break McNair's sternum. I've said this a lot already this year (I'm going to say it a lot more) and I'm going to say it again now. Brady Quinn is going to look good in Silver and Black next year. :D And Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson will look good in green and gold
  19. BULLS!!! Finally a professional sports team that I can get excited about! The preseason should be nice and all just to see the guys back on the court, but I can not wait for Halloween when we open the season against the defending champs. Nothing would be sweeter than to see Big Ben stuff Shaq a couple of times and to have the Bulls put a damper on Ring Night at Miami :D
  20. Packers are off this week. Not like anyone noticed seeing they have basically taken 4 games off this year already.
  21. NIU barely beat Miami Ohio tonight in front of about 3 people. Wolfe had a solid game with 162 yards and 2 TD's. NIU is definitely going to have their hands full next week against Western Michigan if we're struggling that much against an 0-5 Miami Ohio team. SIU travels up to central Illinois to take on the #5 ISU Redbirds. Definitely one of the biggest I-AA games of the season. A win by SIU could legitimately start talk about going undefeated for the regular season. Hopefully Arkee Whitlock can run for about 200 more yards against the Redbirds; like he did to WIU yesterday. If our running game is strong as it usually is, we should be able to get a big win on the road.
