  1. are all of these guys significantly under slot? i don't mind drafting hard throwers, lord knows this organization needs them. but...i guess Tommy has to save his money somehow.
  2. When I point out something along the lines of how the Cubs have Baez-Rizzo-Bryant-Contreras and then a whole bunch of trash heaps, there's usually a reply along the lines of, "oh, how terrible they ONLY have four really good hitters," like it's ridiculous to expect the Cubs to have a better lineup. But look at how they play these guys; it's because they know if 1-2 or two of these guys are out of the lineup, they're screwed. And look at other teams like the Astros and the Yankees have been riddled with injuries up and down, including to key players, yet they're able to take that weight because of how much significantly better their teams are constructed than the Cubs'. Basically this whole "keep playing guys even though they're clearly hurt" thing is dumb and a bad, bad sign. yeah, the OF being a problem offensively for the last 2 1/2 years has been a fairly large concern. sure, they have a better lineup than the likes of the Marlins, Giants, insert bum team name here, etc. but amongst the contenders in baseball, the Cubs OF has to be considered one of the worst. shame on us for wanting a team with billions of dollars to put out better hitters in their lineup.
  3. wtf is it gonna take to get Russell off this team?
  4. Equal blame. Lester was bad. D was bad. Umps were bad. Maddon should’ve kept in Bryant. Addison Russell was bad, is bad, forever will be bad.
  5. burn this franchise to the ground right now
  6. Agreed. There's a bunch of "someone's eventually gonna have to pay a max contract to a guy who's not REALLY a max contract guy" guys in this one. That about sums it up, if the Bulls end up 4, 5, 6 or 7 they're left with a Hunter, Garland, Culver or Reddish, etc. none of them anything special. yep -- if the Bulls don't end up in the top 3, they're probably taking the guard version of WCJ. A solid player, but not someone you're going to build around as a main piece on a title contender. i'm sorry, but that Porter trade still makes no sense to me. there's a slim to none chance that they would've landed any of the big name FA's this offseason anyway, but i still would've rather had that slim to none chance than to take yourself completely out of the running by keeping Otto Porter Jr's contract for the next couple of seasons. plus, if you didn't end up with any of the big name FA's this year, it would've been even easier to continue the tank for 19-20 instead of playing yourself back into NBA Hell by being right around the 8th-10th range in the East. but i don't know. just win the damn lottery and get Zion so I can legitimately celebrate the Bulls for the first time since the Rose buzzer beater against the Cavs.
  7. you can find plenty of middle infielders that don't have a history of abusing women, and ones that have an OPS of .650. the Cubs have a couple in the minors that would qualify. he's a terrible guy, and he sucks at baseball. i really don't understand why Theo is so attached at the hip with this dude.
  8. i made the mistake of commenting on there, and the mouth breathers are in my notifications. i'm an idiot.
  9. he won't oh, i know. totally wishful thinking.
  10. and unfortunately, this is the likely reaction that the abuser is going to receive.
  11. i'm not someone who really likes to boo players, but damn, would it be a nice and welcomed surprise if this dweeb gets a completely negative reaction before his first plate appearance.
  12. Paxson is having his end of the year press conference right now, and he said he's going to try to get Boylen another extension. again, i hate this organization.
  13. that's what I've been harping on all offseason. Theo goes from blatantly saying that they were perhaps overvaluing their own guys and that the way they closed the season was unacceptable, to...doing absolutely nothing this offseason. i still maintain that there's no way Theo would've spent on Darvish/Chatwood/Morrow last offseason if he knew that would've taken them out of the Bryce/Machado sweepstakes this year. everything Theo has said has had some sort of message to it, and he was basically hinting at Harper for what, two years? obviously something happened from the end of the season press conference last year to the point right before the Winter Meetings where they claimed that they had no money.
  14. McLeod? you mean the guy that is probably to blame for the awful drafts and for the farm system being as barren as it is right now? yeah, hard pass on that.
  15. and based on the return the Marlins got for those guys, the Cubs really wouldn't have had to give up that much to get either Yelich or Ozuna (or even Stanton for that matter, besides taking on that contract). to me, it was clear in 2017 that the OF needed some shaking up and instead of doing anything about it, they let their two biggest rivals get better while they stood pat.
  16. hey, they gotta show off LaVine torching another bum team as a reason to get excited about the rebuild.
  17. must L tonight
  18. I think he’s better than the numbers. The Packers lack of a pass rush lately I think makes the secondary guys grade out and look worse. They’ve had multiple guys leave from the secondary in the last 2-4 years that seemed average to bad and turn in to good players once they got on good defenses. I'm curious as to who you're referring to. the major ones that left (Heyward and Hyde) were considered pretty good when they were with the Packers, and it was a pretty bad mistake to let them walk. like i said, HHCD will make the occasional nice play, but i'm legit curious to see how the Bears are going to use him since his area of strength is similar to Jackson's. if he's going to fill the Amos role...that's going to be interesting, considering he's a rather poor tackler and run stopper. but yeah, you can do worse for the contract he signed.
  19. he'll make a nice play every now and then that gets you sucked back into thinking that he's back to what he was when he first came into the league, but other than that, no.
  20. That's definitely part of the problem, but yeah, it shouldn't take much for them to be in playoff contention next year. the problem is, what exactly does playing for the 8 seed with Miami, Detroit, Charlotte, Orlando, etc. really accomplish? you're still nowhere near actually being competitive enough to compete with actual teams, and you're just going to be hurting your chances by picking in the teens instead of potentially a top 5 pick. if they end up getting a non-Zion/Morant/Barrett guy this year, the two tank years would have resulted in Wendell Carter and someone like Cam Reddish. to me, that doesn't exactly paint these last couple of years as a success. are we saying having lauri and lavine aren't also a result of them taking that path (even if you don't want to include porter)? they're going to do better than competing for an 8th seed next year if they're healthy. lauri is horsefeathering good and young. same with lavine. yeah, that's fair. they did manage to win the Butler trade, which is pretty impressive for an NBA deal when you trade an all-star. that's probably the best move GarPax has made in close to a decade -- which, of course, means they most likely get another decade to bungle things up for this franchise.
