  1. Montgomery was probably in the bullpen Yeah, Montgomery and Mills were the only two arms left yesterday, so both of them had to have been in the pen.
  2. I don't understand why Passan just doesn't say who it was.
  3. and that Cishek seemingly pitched every other day all season too. I thought it was evident he was tired down the stretch. As far as the offense goes, they scored 1 run in 17 innings the second game of the season against the Marlins. The inconsistency of the offense was a story all year, no matter how the most optimistic of fans could have attempted to spin it. Whether that falls on the idiot hitting coach, or the majority of the position players peaking in their first or second year in the big leagues is up for debate, but most likely, it's some combination of the two. sure would be nice if the Trump loving owners doled out their money to the Harper & Machado slush funds in about a month or so.
  4. the Cubs are the only team in baseball history to play a 162 game schedule, or so I've thought with all the complaints about the schedule the last couple of months.
  5. Cubs.com is selling a limited number of tickets at noon.
  6. yeah, that was a total brain fart. go Rockies.
  7. well if Hamels is going to pitch out of the pen, that would also mean Kershaw would if the Dodgers win today. ugh.
  8. yelich carried a .500 wOBA for a month and the cubs played well in september. milwaukee went balls out. why is it a bad thing that i'm willing to give more credit to milwaukee than blame to the cubs? the cubs did not play well to end the season. they went 14-13 beginning with the first brewers series. They gave up a 5 game lead in a little less than month. Obviously the Brewers deserve a lot of credit for how they played the last week and a half, but the Cubs weren't exactly world beaters in September.
  9. I think it's both. Chili sucks, but I think a lot of these guys (namely Schwarber, Almora, Happ, Russell) are what they are.
  10. probably not a good sign when Orlando horsefeathering Arcia has more hits than your entire team combined.
  11. Yeah, if the Tigers are going to win a game, I think it's going to be tonight.
  12. just imagine if MLB actually scheduled the Nationals makeup game for the Monday after the season.
  13. What would you actually get in return, though? His value was totally shot, even before this. I'd just cut his ass right now and not think twice about it.
  14. G1 of the NLDS would be on Thursday, October 4th, which would be three full weeks from when Pedro was hurt. Hopefully they win the division and buy him an extra few days of rest, so he could potentially make the NLDS roster.
  15. First half Almora was a house of cards and unsustainable player. He horsefeathering sucks and second half Almora is what he is +/- if he’s going to face a lot of RHP. He may suck now but he didn't suck in the 1st half, unsustainable or not he was a big part of the offense then when he got to play and helped win a bunch of games with his bat and glove. man, I hope you can sell other GM's on Almora in the offseason.
  16. Russell still can't hit a ball out of the infield. Make 2 stand, Monty.
  17. I'd rather have him in there and Javy at 2nd than Javy at SS and Murphy at 2B. Murphy isn't hitting enough to make up for his defense that I just cannot stand to watch. Yup, Murphys offense is probably equal to Russels offense at this point, and Addi gets you +++++ defensive infield I mean sure, if Murphy is gonna continue to be a 99 OPS+ guy like he has been the last couple of weeks, sure. I would anticipate that he's going to break out of this slump, though. I'd rather have Murphy get you 3 AB's, and then hopefully you have a lead where you can pull him for Russell in the 7th inning or so. Russell has just been so bad at the plate that I don't think anything is going to fix him this year.
  18. I think Maddon trying hard to get him hitting for the playoffs.. If Russell is getting starts in the playoffs, something has gone horribly wrong.
  19. Russell is still playing way too much.
  20. Probably the most perplexing thing to me with this team is that they've combined for a grand total of 153 dongs...good enough for 21st in all of baseball. Guys like Russell and Contreras went from being great power players at their positions, to utter trash. Even Happ's power has dropped off considerably from last year -- he basically has the same amount of PA's this year opposed to last, and has 10 fewer HR's. Obviously the convenient excuse or answer would be Chili Davis, but does a hitting coach really matter that much? I wanted Mallee gone last year too because I felt like the offense was underachieving -- maybe the book is out on a lot of these dudes and they're just not as good as we had hoped for/anticipated when they were called up in 2015 and 2016.
  21. I'm just glad Russell and Almora aren't in. Look at the positives.
  22. I really hope they show this at Wrigley tonight, but they'll probably continue to pretend that Sammy never existed.
