  2. Game 2: Dodgers (Kershaw) 1, Cubs 0 Game 3: Dodgers (Hill) 6, Cubs 0 Guess what happened next the good ol' days
  3. I'm not sure if this offense can hit any of us throwing them beach balls right now, let alone Yu Darvish.
  4. get it? because if you call him Erin, that makes him a female and a lesser man.
  5. Gar being fired means nothing if Paxson is still there, IMO. That would be a total lip service/PR move that wouldn't actually mean anything. But yeah, the rest of that sounds about right.
  6. Hopefully Lopez gets traded for a second round pick that GarPax will eventually sell for cash considerations.
  7. nice
  8. I wonder why he got rid of it. I didn't even realize he had until this lineup was posted, although he rarely used it anyway. I noticed he got rid of it in the offseason. I'm sure he was getting tired of looking at his mentions.
  9. Still not a fan of one of your worst hitters hitting leadoff, but I don't think Joe's ever going to drop Zobrist down to 7th or 8th.
  10. I actually think the black jerseys (not the shirts that they've switched to the last couple of years) were the best in the league. And if they ever brought back the black jerseys with the red pinstripes, the rest of the league can forget about it.
  11. 2 hours before the game, so I'll take the liberty of starting this today. Zobrist Almora Bryant Contreras Happ Baez Schwarber Avila Hendricks discuss. or don't.
  12. That was some real awful managing. Why didn't Schwarber PH for Lackey in the 5th, in the first place?
  13. I'm still trying to figure out how Grimm has a job but w/e. not like it would've mattered since the game was basically decided once Carl & Fat Hector couldn't get a single out.
  14. so he bunts, and then looks at strike 3 right down the middle?
  15. yeah, I was at a game earlier this year and went to the bathroom. he was babbling about how the most important stat in all of baseball was team ERA. he's old though, so I guess he gets a pass.
  16. just curious, but does this move make Verlander slightly more intriguing or nah? Reason I say that is because obviously he won't cost you any real, legitimate prospects and the cost is just money. A rotation of Lester-Quintana-Hendricks-Arrieta-Verlander for the second half of this season would be rather decent. And you'd have one less part to worry about in the offseason, unless he actually is bad and/or his arm falls off.
  17. wouldn't that be the most Theo thing to do? I wouldn't put it past him...and if it was him, that makes me love him exponentially more. if it was then theo is a huge men's right activist and/or anti-semite but we know neither of those are true.
  18. I don't care what neapolitan color he is right now, just welcome him back as a damn ambassador already
  19. Yep someone said they heard Quintana to the Cubs for 4 prospects last night on White Sox Reddit wouldn't that be the most Theo thing to do? I wouldn't put it past him...and if it was him, that makes me love him exponentially more.
  20. literally every single rational Cubs fan I know in real life & on Twitter is in total agreement that the trade was fair and loves the fact that Quintana is under control through 2020. Then, there's Jim Hendry on here and the Facebook comments on the Cubs post about the trade today. lol.
  21. I like it a lot. Nice to have a young starter who's under control for a while and who can make a difference in the second half of this year.
  22. I was team blow it up, but the one thing that sucks about trading our only superstar is that we lose a lot of rep and credibility around the league. I can't think of many stars that have jumped to a team in FA that doesn't have one of their buddies from the NBA inner circle already in place. With enough cap space Chicago could be an attractive destination for a couple of FA's to team up and sign together, but I don't think GarPax or the Bulls org in general has a good rep amongst players right now and I doubt people like Jimmy or Wade would vouch for the Bulls either. So this makes the rebuild that much harder if JR is insisting on keeping the GarPax dynamic. We have to hit on lottery picks and have them develop quickly otherwise its looking like a 5+ year rebuild. 5+ years feels pretty generous, tbh.
  23. and he's gotta be the unluckiest player in baseball, or something.
  24. But...their record. Good and bad baseball teams will be capable of hovering around .500 for 80 games because baseball is weird. I'm not saying there aren't any causes for legitimate concern, but to me, basically being .500 with lots of things going pretty damn badly (I won't say worst case, because that would be like everybody being out for the season or something) is almost a testament to the talent on this team. My concern is that they don't do anything well. Maybe walk, but that's about it. They don't hit well, they don't pitch well -- it's not like there's a huge outlier between their record and the way they're playing.
