    Week 3

My offense needs to get it going. Only 1 HR this week. David Wright has become a glorified Melvin Mora. Ian Kinsler is my main power source. I need a big weekend. BTW, Miguel Cabrera has negative points for the Budcrew. Gotta take advantage of that.
  2. To be fair, the famine can be attributed solely to Ohman and Eyre and I think one bad outing for Howry. You do know that's 1/2 the bullpen right? The other half has 0 ERAs. That's the definition of feast or famine.
  3. Last night sucked. I hate to say I told you so, but I knew that game would be trouble. I do like the Bulls chances against the Heat, but probably in 6 or 7. Of course, I think this series hurts the Bulls chances against the Pistons, who should win in 5 at most. I believe they had a much better chance vs. Detroit in the conf. finals with both coming off of 2 series. Bulls can beat the Heat and Pistons. They have shown that. This team has the playoff experience, with the core of Gordon, Hinrich, Deng, Duhon, Noicioni all playing in their 3rd straight playoffs. And obviously, Wallace and Brown have a ton of playoff experience. Here's to a Bulls/Cavs conference final! Just gotta take the hard road.
  4. Where's Abuck? hahahahahahaha!
  5. Aybar is a much better hitter than Cedeno. I wouldn't trade Murton at this point. Jones is obviously on his way out. Floyd could go down at any time and is on a 1-year deal. The OF depth could easily become a hole the way it was for the recent post-Sammy years. I don't know that I'd do Jacque for Aybar straight up though. I'd probably want a low level pitching prospect too, especially if the Angels want the Cubs to pick up any money.
  6. I hated the idea of trading Jones, because I didn't think Pie was ready to produce enough to make up for his numbers. But if Floyd is going to continue to hit the ball the way he has (he'd have amazing numbers with some luck), then a Soriano (assuming he remembers how to play), Pie, Floyd/Murton OF will be productive enough.
  7. Not including Walrond, though. Who has the lowest ERA amongst the Cub minor league starters. :P That just just means he has pitched well, not that he's actually "good". Not much of a future for big Les. I know, just messing around. :) Heh. Walrond was actually once the Cards top prospect I believe. Their system sucked.

  9. Pie: 6'2" 170 lbs. Soriano: 6'1" 180 lbs. We're going to gave great speed and arms in two of our OF positions for a long time to come. Did you see Pie rounding second on that liner into the gap. A bobble or a weird bounce off the wall and he was on third. That guy can fly. I would guess Felix is bigger than 170 at this point. My guess would be about 6'2" 180. I think Soriano has to be pretty close to 6'2" also.
  10. Not including Walrond, though.
  11. I'm blaming luck (re: the wind blowing in) for the Cubs only scoring 3 runs yesterday. That is not luck. It's a well known fact of life about April baseball. Which way the wind is blowing is hardly a fact. It makes no sense to say it's luck though. I would say there's a 3 in 4 chance that in an April game with the temperature below 60, that the wind will be blowing in. And 3/4 is being generous.
  12. Pie and Soriano have the exact same physique.
  13. "Gallagher and The Shark". Sounds like an 80s CBS police detective drama.
  14. Cincy has 3 catchers. I remember hearing their announcers bitching about it on XM. Well, Cincy doesn't count, because of the bolded part.
  15. What is the scoop on Holliman? I remember the Cubs drafting him, but don't remember the scouting report. Is he a guy that relies on control? FB around 88-91 mph (90-92 mph when he was in college), good curve, slider and change. Last season he started out real strong too but really tailed off in July and August. Still think he's a reliever?

    Week 3

HBC and I are neck and neck offensively as I figured. Pitching has been the key. Both with 7 starts. Both with 2 in the books. My 2 have been 22 and 22.75 points. His 2 have been 16.55 and 4.75. My lead is basically the difference in the starters points. Hope this keeps up the rest of the week. Edit: my bullpen has a 6.5 advantage, so he's actually been better with the bat.
  17. SP M. Holliman 7 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3/2 K/BB, 10-8 GO-FO My Dawg!
  18. Albert Pujols sucks this year. That's enjoyable to know.
  19. It's a good idea to put the best players on the field together. This is starting to happen.
  20. Odd. He was 15 in the minors til last year, then switched to 20. Good thing I didn't buy the #20 jersey on sale before last year. I gotta rep with my Cedeno #5!
  21. Not just because of the name, but he reminds me of Rickey Henderson. Probably more power and less speed, though. He's gonna be real good.

    Week 3

And I get screwed by a horrible coaching move. Capuano was crusing thru 5. The 6th started with an error by Hardy. He then gave up 2 singles, to load the bases with no outs. Now I can't see the game, but he allowed a sac fly and all runners moved up on a "pop out to CF", so I'm assuming Conine didn't hit the ball that well. He then got Griffey to ground back to him with runners on 2nd and 3rd for the 2nd out. However, Yost goes to the pen to bring in Greg Aquino to face Edwin Encarnacion. Who is Greg Aquino you may ask....he is the guy that Encarnacion had doubled against twice in 5 PAs. Yes, that Edwin Encarnacion. The one who is 3-17 with 6 of his 8 Ks vs. LHPs.
