  1. I'd trade Lee for Kemp and Loney. Hendry wouldn't. Lee is the leader of this team, and he won't leave the Cubs until he is ineffective. I'd trade almost anything the Dodgers wanted for Kemp, Loney, and/or Ethier.
  2. National League National Football Conference Eastern Conference (NBA) All suck! Hopefully, the Cubs can follow the Bears lead and make it all the way to the big one..... before being handled easily by the other league/conference. :x
  3. just wakin up in the morning gotta thank god i don't know but today seems kinda odd no barking from the dog no smog and momma cooked the breakfast with no hog i got my grub on, but didn't pig out finally got a call from a girl i wanna..... hooked it up for later as i hit the door thinkin would i live another 24 i gotta go cuz i got me a drop top and if i hit the switch, i can make the ### drop
  4. Matt Kemp can come to Chicago and blast salsa music in a large boombox, for all I care.
  5. I'd trade anyone the Dodgers want for Matt Kemp.
  6. I'll give you that Friday looks like a mismatch. But both teams have problems. The pitching matchups favor SD after the 1st game. At least look at both sides. If the Brewers are gonna play hard because they're desperate, won't the Padres, who are even more in the race? The Padres have been 5 games better than the Brewers this season, against a tougher schedule and division. The Padres lost 4 straight, but are still 8-4 in their last 12. The Brewers lost 3 of 4, and don't have a 7 game win streak to fall back on.
  7. You'd have Hill and Marquis probably able to go that day too.
  8. You "might" give up Hill for Santana? I'd give any single player on the team for Johan. Yes, that includes Lee, Ramirez, Soriano and Zambrano. I'd probably add Pie and/or Marshall with anybody but Ramirez.
  9. Have similar issues with Guillen as I have with Tejada. Is gonna be 32 next year (actually turns 32 sunday). Won't be able to handle SS defensively much longer, if he can now. He has 52 errors there the last 2 years, with a fielding % under .960.....well worse than his career numbers. He's been pretty bad in the 2nd half of the season, with a .723 OPS since the break. He's still been better than Tejada, offensively, in recent years, so he is a better option than Miggy, IMO. Between Guillen, Tejada and Renteria, the Cubs should be able to upgrade SS next year if they are willing to trade. Renteria would probably be the cheapest to acquire talent-wise, but has a good chance of being least productive offensively, but best defensively. Guillen would likely be the most attractive offensively and the least attractive defensively, and would probably cost the most to acquire. Tejada is probably the biggest injury risk, despite being the youngest of the group (all will be 32 next year). At this point, I'd probably go Renteria, Guillen, Tejada if all are available, simply because of what I think it would take to get each.
  10. No they aren't faltering. Yes, the lost 4 straight before yesterday, but that was after a 7-game win streak. 8-4 last 12 games. And assuming you meant Brewers take all for, yes it is in the realm of possibility, but it's extremely unlikely. As, I posted in antoher thread, the Padres are one of 8 teams with a winning road record. Milwaukee is great at home, but the chances are greater that a .513 road team plays .500 this weekend than that a .644 home team plays .750 or 1.000 ball against a team that is 5 games better.
  11. I really hope thats true. The thought of Trachsel starting has been making me very uncomfortable. Can't use the whole pen in 1 day. That would make at least Wood and Wuertz unavailable the following day. If someone is ineffective, somebody else gets taxed.
  12. I'd really like to see Hill start tomorrow. And Zambrano on Friday. Both would be on regular rest. Hopefully, that would mean 3 wins and a division clinch. Can start Trachsel and Marshall on the final 2 days of the season. Give Lilly rest, and NOT give Zambrano too much rest, which I think could be a problem. If Cubs lose and lose a game on the Brewers, may need Hill to get a big win. If the Cubs win and gain a game, I'd want Hill (and Z) set up to put the nail in the coffin.
  13. Truthfully, Peavy on 3 days rest (he gave up 8ER in 4IP when he did it earlier this month), Young (0-3 7.00 ERA in September, 0-2 5.68 ERA in August), and Maddux (fly ball pitcher) don't really excite me in this series. Don't pin your hopes on those guys. If he pitches Wednesday and then doesn't return until Sunday it's 4 days. Wed - Thurs 1 day Thurs - Fri 2 days Fri - Sat 3 days Sat - Sun 4 days I think he could be just fine doing that. I think Mad dog will pitch well with the playoffs on the line. Not sure about Young. No. He has 3 days rest, because he will have 3 days off. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Can't count today or Sunday, because he's not resting those days, he's pitching.
  14. Or Reggie Bush before last night. Sucks that I lost by less than 1/4 of a point. 5 more [expletive] yards and I woulda won.
  15. I'm sure Carlos Zambrano is excited.
  16. Mets are a bad matchup for the Cubs. I want the D'backs. I think the Padres can beat the Mets. I'd rather see the Padres in a long series. Peavy 2 of 5 games is a lot scarier than 2 of 7 or 3 of 7, if needed.
  17. I knew a simple 300 game wouldn't get it done. I would have felt bad if I had 340-350 and lost because you had 360+. But I was outscored by all 3 other teams in the playoffs. I couldn't have beaten anyone with that score.
  18. I won my money league thanks in part to Soriano and Prince Fielder. In fact, I pretty much won with the same key parts as Abuck used to beat me with.
  19. I caught it.
  20. Go Brewers! Keep losing! I can't root for the Cards, regardless of situation. So, I will root for the Brewers to lose.
  21. Wright will win it. Hanley Ramirez, Chipper Jones, or Chase Utley should. Prince has been great, but Ryan Braun has been more important to that team this year. Put Counsell and Graffanino's production in his spot and see how good the Brewers are. Rollins has also been excellent. Chipper has been the best player when he's been healthy. Utley would have won MVP if he stayed healthy. Ryan Howard should get 0 votes. Aramis should get consideration (i.e. some top 5 votes), but won't. My top 5. H. Ramirez C Jones Utley Rollins D Wright Aramis, Holliday, Fielder in the next discussion.
  22. Beckett will win. I wish Bedard had stayed healthy down the stretch. He may deserve it anyway. Would have led the league in Ks, BAA, and pretty close in WHIP and ERA.
  23. I feel bad that the Mets won today. Atlanta deserved some help, considering how they helped the Cubs. Braves are probably done.
  24. As of right now... Isn't he scheduled for Saturday? Hill, Z, Lilly the last 3. Hopefully, he doesn't pitch in that series at all.
