    Yeah, this is an interesting week for me. This league in semis. This league is the most competitive/important. Other league is for money, and I'm in the finals. In one league I'm facing Fielder, Kent, Rich Hill, Soriano, Brett Myers and Ben Sheets. The other league they're all on my team.

    I actually like Boras too. If I was a baseball player, I would love to be representated by him. He's the best at his job.

    He wasn't on the list last year, and while I've argued his numbers at AAA are good, I don't think he's done enough to be on the list this year.

    Mine wasn't in order. I don't think Eric makes the BA top 100, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good ML player. I don't know what was so wrong with Patterson's season at AAA. He walked 54 times in 516 ABs, which is an excellent rate. He hit for about as much power as you could expect. He struck out less than he ever has as a professional. I think he could be a ML 2B or a CF, where he could be at least a league average to above average hitter for his position. I don't think anything was necessarily wrong with Eric Patterson's numbers-until you consider the offensive environment at Iowa and the PCL overall. The PCL overall had an average OPS of 783, so Patterson only was 34 points above average. At Iowa, there were plenty of people who had better seasons than Patterson. In fact, his closest batting comparisons this year are to Sam Fuld, Koyie Hill, and Josh Kroeger. That's not the greatest company there, and there were several other non-prospects that had similar or better numbers than Patterson. Most of the other actual prospects in Iowa last year had over 900 OPS's. Eric Patterson- 24 years old, 1st year in AAA. Sam Fuld- 26 Koyie Hill- 28 Josh Kroeger- 24 most of the year, but has AAA experience.

    Question. What's the difference between adjusted EqA for the season and adjusted EqA for all time? Because for all-time shows Tejada at .294, while the season shows .278. What makes choosing 1 better than the other?

    Not a bad list. I feel similarly about Szamardzija as you do. I think your ratings are a little high, but I would at this point, roughly go in my top 10: Patterson, Soto, Colvin, Vitters, Gallagher, Veal, Huseby, Szamardzija, Donaldson, Burke. I also really like Hernandez and Ceda.

    Last year's BA top 100 had 26 OFs on the list. They routinely have over 20.

    Yeah, the IU/UI game is potentially huge. Both teams have more talent than they've had since the late 90s. Should be a good one. Glad it's in Bloomington.

    But if he's traded in the middle of his contract doesn't he have the right to declare for free agency? I'm pretty sure they took that out of the new CBA. Did they really? Well that would help things. IMO, the O's would want Hill, Pie and Marmol. I'm not sure I'd trade any of them straight up for Tejada. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't.

    BTW, in one of my other leagues (cash payout), I am in the finals this week. My semi-final game went completely down to the wire. I was down about 5 points with Jeter left to go. I was down a little under 4 in the top of the 8th inning, Jeter AB against Schilling with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Well, the ever-so-clutch Derek Jeter didn't fail me, coming thru with a game-winning 3-run HR (for his team and mine). Even a 2-run double would have left me short by .3 points, had nobody knocked Jeter home. A HR was the only logical way for me to win in that situation.

    No disrespect to HBC, but this is what I have worked for since last offseason. In order to get where I want to be in this league, I have to beat GHS this week. I have looked forward to this matchup for about 14 months. Pep talks and preparations have taken place. No more to talk about. Time to get it done, Dawgs!

    I'm with TT. I wanted Tejada last year or before this year. I don't really want much part of him at this point. He's not good defensively anymore. His power is trending downward, to the point his ISOP is at .155 this year. Last 2 years under .170. He has some major red flags as far as injuries are concerned. That being said, I would still take him on this team. But I wouldn't trade Marshall and top prospects for him. I'd be hesitant to include Marshall at all, and I definitely don't include Pie. If Baltimore would take Veal, Atkins and Patterson, I'd probably do that at the most.

    Rothschild has really done an excellent job this year. I think he clearly has a knack for turning around sinker ballers, with Marquis and Clement a few years back. He's also done a great job with Hill, who was starting to struggle midseason and has turned it around since. He's done great with Marshall, who struggled last year w/ stuff and health, and he's been solid. Gotta give him some credit for Lilly too, who is perhaps having his best year as a pro. Also, Marmol has turned from below average starter in his brief 1st year, to stud reliever in his 2nd.

    If the Cubs are up by at least 3 games after this weekend, I hope Lou has a change of heart. Even if he has to start Trachsel (rather see Hart), I'd rather see that than Zambrano on 3-days rest. It's not giving Carlos an extra start. It is giving Lilly an extra start, but pushing him back would also put him in line for a potential 1-game playoff or game 1 of the NLDS. This way puts Marquis or Hill inline for that start.

    I think Samardzija will be the #1 guy this time next year. I don't really see him getting enough innings next year to lose his eligibility requirements, assuming the Cubs are healthy and the SP remains pretty similar. I am intrigued by the SP depth in the system. Although, they may not be top flight arms, the Cubs have a good 6-7 guys that could start some games next year if needed, not to mention if Prior returns to anywhere close to form. This may be for another thread, but if 2-3 of these arms can't be packaged for a good player, it opens up the door to trade Marshall or for a great player, Hill. The Cubs could mix and match in the 5th starter's spot with the depth they have knocking on the door of the majors. Hopefully, the hit in production from the rotation can be picked up by Zambrano showing up all season and by the bat(s), the Cubs can pick up.

    The Cubs can beat Arizona. I don't like their chances vs. the Mets. The Cubs non-Zambrano pitchers don't hold runners on well. Kendall doesn't throw well. The Mets steal tons of bases. Their pitching doesn't scare, but it's really not a good matchup for the Cubs. IF the Cubs make the playoffs, they will play Arizona if San Diego or LA wins the wildcard, and the Mets if the Phillies win the WC. Essentially, the Mets and Dbacks are gonna be division winners with the 2 best records in the league. SD doesn't face Ari again, the Dodgers have 5 more (including this weekend), but are 4.5 games behind and would likely have to win all 5 to have a realistic shot at the division. The only thing left to determine in the playoff picture is if the Cubs and Padres can hold off teams they don't see head-to-head.

    Good luck. Here's to a speedy recover to Angel. Huge uphill battle to ever be a full-time contributor in the MLB at this point. Seriously one of the most electric arms I've ever seen.

    Chester Taylor is limited this week. Go with Peterson against a bad defense. Minn will run the ball a ton to keep the Lions O off the field. McGahee's decent, but the Ravens haven't run the ball well in a couple years.
