  1. Baez singled. YAY. 2-4. But then got caught stealing with Bryant at bat. BOO
  2. Holy crap. He's really going to get to 50 this year, isn't he? Reached the halfway point in the halfway point of AAA total games (Bryant has played 72 games before today, AAA plays 144, though not sure what's left for Iowa).
  3. He hits better in the day time because he's white.
  4. If we had anything resembling a competent outfield, I wonder where we'd be. our production at the catcher position has also been league-worst Yeah, but there's more than 3 good hitting OFs in baseball.
  5. I think you said it, he's 33. Time is running short on him. Hendricks will get his shot. Villanueva has had plenty of shots and they all kinda sucked. I think he's done starting and probably won't ever be an important part of the pen the rest of the year.
  6. Reconverting? How do we know the plan was not to give Ramirez a little break coming back from injury? The Cubs don't really have a shortage of relief arms. They do/will have a shortage on starters after Samardzija is gone. I think Ramirez is most likely to succeed as a SP out of him, Grimm or Vizcaino.
  7. Baez has seen 4 pitches. K rate improving.
  8. A good hitting catcher is awesome and probably the biggest luxury in baseball. But a crappy hitting catcher doesn't kill you as bad as either a crappy defensive catcher or a crappy hitting left fielder. If Schwarber catches in the majors, he probably will not be very good at it. He'll be serviceable probably, but has a ways to work to get there. If he's a LF in the majors, he'll probably be a good hitter. And if so, thats one less spot you have to worry about having a bad hitter playing. Not to mention the time it will take him to contribute in the majors depending on what position he plays.
  9. I agree with that article wholeheartedly. WE are in this together. The Cubs cannot end this very real curse unless us as fans do our part and fully support our 300 million dollar payroll by not booing.
  10. Pretty obvious that the Bulls are signing both Melo and LeBron this offseason.
  11. I've wanted Affalo for years. Make that trade and be done for the offseason and have a championship contender.
  12. Alcantara is more important thawould n anyone on the ML roster capable of playing CF. And the key is seeing if he can play OF for the future. If Bryant stays at 3rd, and Baez goes to 2nd, Alcantara would have to play OF to get in the lineup. But yeah, Id call him up to play 2B now (Valbuena to 3B), with an occasional move to CF to get Olt some ABs.
  13. Good lower level pitching day.
  14. 1-hitter thru 6. Only 2 balls have left the infield since the first 2 batters of the game..... that includes the hit.
  15. Barney really needs a trip to the DL. AA is ready to play.
  16. Damn. Mr. Bear. It's amazing how much I noticed the long snapping when he was out. Just off here and there.
  17. Said on MLB Network last night that the last person who had that injury was Joel Zumaya, and he has never pitched again. Big blow for Floyd. It was ugly too.
  18. I can see some of the big-league-itis stuff. 9 HRs in the last 2 springs. He knows he's close, and probably feels he's very capable of producing in the majors. Hopefully, Bryant taking some of his spotlight will light a fire under him. If not, then when Manny comes to town to work with him. But I have no reason to believe he won't turn it around. He already started to a month ago, before his recent cold streak.
  19. Don't care. Defense can't possibly be worse. If they are marginally better, this is a playoff team.
  20. Eh. It wasn't that deep. Villanueva with a walk off single for his new/old team.
  21. Deep fly out for Bryant in his 2nd AB. Sent Javy to 3rd, after he led of the inning with a single.
  22. Game called after 5. Complete game shutout!
  23. Thoughts on Schwarber playing now 4 straight games NOT at Catcher?
  24. Idonije wasn't going to make the 53, but thought he st last would make it a tough decision.
