  1. I wonder if Aramis' muscular injuries have anything to do with him not being in the greatest shape (that I can see). Also :x
  2. I think that when you are .229/.266/.373/.639 it's likely that you aren't having success in many situations.
  3. Why do you think Perez will be the starting shortstop next year? Yeah, I doubt Neifi will be the starter for next year, but I agree it would be a farce if he is. You can say THAT again!
  4. Chipper is a hick name.
  5. I know! It's as if he was playing for the Cubs or something! it's also as if there's opinions on corey that haven't been expressed already 1000s of times! i'm dying to hear the many reasons why corey sucks. I know, if I see another thread on why the 2005 Cubs have struggled, I'm going to pull my hair out!
  6. I know! It's as if he was playing for the Cubs or something!
  7. I'm a Ken man myself.
  8. I'm genuinely serious, can you give an example of this? I'm not trying to be a jerk, it just seems to me that most people who defend Corey do so when someone has gone overboard in the other direction. Maybe that's the case. I don't want to pull specific examples because I don't want this to turn into a massive flame war. Saying things like "Where are all the Hollandsworth and Burnitz threads if we're going to rag on Corey yet again." "Let's all pile on Corey." "Another one of these threads?" Do any of those statements have anything to do with the topic at hand? Because there aren't Burnitz threads there can't be Corey threads? So we can't say anything negitive about Corey or else it's "Piling on?" If it's just general fatigue over the Corey threads then don't open them.
  9. Why can't we talk about Corey? I don't understand why this is such a powder keg. He was a player who had huge hype coming into the Major Leagues and hasn't panned out. Obviously to everyone, he has been absolutely awful this season. It seems like there is lots to talk about. To be honest, it's kind of irritating that people come to these threads posting things to make it seem like it's just cruel and mean to discuss Corey's struggles. It's like I'm some kind of jerk for pointing out how ridiculously awful Corey has been this year and how that effects my favorite team. To be honest, it's just strange. This board is typically gives honest reviews of a player's preformance. With regard to Corey, people just don't want to hear it for whatever reason.
  10. We optioned Murton? Why? It makes no sense.
  11. What I'm concerned about is filling this roster with, durable, productive, solid major league players. Locking him down (assuming his demands are reasonable) is a no brainer. We have holes all over this team. Next year we have questionmarks @ 6 out of the 9 offensive positions (5 ?'s at the least). Even if Derek settles (which I think he will to around 900OPS) he would still be well worth paying decent money for. His glove, durability, and bat are worth taking the risk that he somehow takes a nosedive in future years. It would be a huge mistake if we let Lee go and hope some prespect can fill his shoes. Sure the prospect may be cheaper in terms of his cost to production, but I'd be pretty surprised if his production, defense, and duribility ever reaches Lee's career norms. Trying to save money is great, but lets face it, we aren't the Devil Rays. We shouldn't let our best players go because we might have to pay for them. I absolutely understand the need for caution. I still think as long as Derek's demands aren't completely unreasonable we should do everythign we can to lock him down.
  12. That's pretty impressive. I still think that if we are overpaying Maddux next year, it is the least of our many problems.
  13. For a team struggling to find productive and consistant players to man most positions, I think it would be a blunder of epic proportions not to resign Lee.
  14. The best is that the address to that article includes "cubs.debacle"
  15. I liked your Conan baseball head better. :(
  16. I'm calling it! Patterson is going yard here.
  17. WHY IS HE CRYING NOW? Z BRUSH HIM BACK? Easy on the caps lock there, buddy. When at work he has to have them on I think. YES I DO. I APPOLOGIZE.... In that case, forget about it. No. I think he should quit his job. This is ridiculous!
  18. Can we use this thread to make up ficticious and absurd trade proposals for Adam Dunn? If so, I'd like to start: Sergio Mitre and Wellemeyer for Dunn and PTBNL. Seriously, the Reds need pitching n stuff.
