    I'm sorry, I was unaware this board was lacking in Corey bashing. The point is there is a discussion of guys who haven'r produced and his name isn't being mentioned. Give me a break. Why does Perez merit greater bashing than patterson? Topic of the hour? Not every discussionhas to be about Corey. This one for instance, is about the Niefster. Some of the people on this board have an unbelievable double standard. Are you talking about me? If so, please enlighten me....otherwise, carryon. I'm talking about those criticizing players for being non-productive and mentioning a number of names without Patterson's name coming up. Those and all the excuse makers for him earlier in the year ("it's, sob, Dusty's fault, sob, that Corey swing, sob, at pitches over, sob, his head.") who never desist in ripping Perez and macias while calling for an end to Patterson bashing. Are you just trying to start fights? Who says there has to be equal time for bashing the Cubs plethora of crap-ass players? Start a Patterson thread if you care so much.

    Great for him. I still can't blame anyone for DFAing him. He was completely awful this year and most of last.

    I think it eventually will but I also think that it's possible (not likely) that it isn't. Here's why: If in 6-8 years, the power numbers keep decreasing and the steroid/hgh testing becomes better and more severe, it's likely that the decade of Sammy's best play will be looked down upon as a dirty era. Like it or not, I think, historically speaking, that Sammy and McGuire are going to be the poster boys of this "steroid era." Sure, they never got caught, but most people outside this City (Fans of the Cubs) beleive that both Sammy and McGurie were roid maniacs. Depending on how big the backlash becomes over the steroid thing in the next 8 years or so, I could see something like a "unspoken rule" to give these guys as little recognition as possible.

    I never said a hit was meaninless. I said some at-bats are more meaningful than others. If you want to actually watch the game and understand what you are watching instead of cheerleading for a guy you "like" for whatever reason, fine. I am not saying that Barrett can't get better either. But at this stage he does not do his best when the heat is on. More than just today. See Philadelphia, a mental, not, physical, error. In fact, I think he admitted himself in a newspaper article this year that he pressed too much when he came up with bases loaded. Barrett with the bases loaded this year: .364/.364/.636/1.000, 3 doubles in 11 at bats. Are you made of stone??? Listen to your feelings about Barrett! Watch the games!

    Enough with the stats and start watching him play. He is below average defensively and tight at the plate in pressure situations. And please don't quote me his average with men in scoring position. It's different hitting in a game when you're up by 7 or 8 than it it is when you're down a couple of runs. :lol:
