  1. Don't look now but even Soriano is down to .262. If the All-Star game was tomorrow, I think we would see Fukudome making his 2nd consecutive appearance. Nobody else even comes close to deserving it.
  2. Yea makes no sense our best Ph doesnt see the field in a close game like that, yet Freel and Miles do. Lous in game managing leaves so much to be desired. Just to make it even dumber, please give the #1 reason Hoffpauir made the squad in the first place. I was mowing the lawn and only caught portions of the 8th and 9th inning on the radio, but I knew that the pitcher's spot was coming up in the 9th and assumed there was no question that it would be Hoffpauir. The next I heard, Soriano had hit a home run and there was 1 out, so I was certain that Hoffpauir had made an out. After reading this thread, I went back and checked the box score to find that Miles was used instead. That is completely inexcusable to leave the team's best pinch hitter on the bench, especially when Miles was the alternative. Lou treats Hoffpauir as if he is a .220 hitter with power who is only valuable in situations where a home run is required.
  3. Time to hurry the game up... looks like a small batch of rain coming soon, followed by a short window, then a huge band coming through that may finish it off.
  4. A 30 minute first inning doesn't bode well for finishing this game tonight.
  5. Say the game doesn't go 5. Can MLB decide to continue it tomorrow, or would it have to start over? Anything under 5 innings would have to start over.
  6. It looks like the heavy rain is a little over an hour away.
  7. While waiting for the Cubs game to start... am I the only one who thinks Sarah Kustok talks like she has a mouth full of marbles?
  8. I doubt they would force San Diego to play a day/night doubleheader on less than 24 hours notice. Maybe we'll get to see a good old-fashioned back-to-back doubleheader.
  9. With this lineup already missing enough guys, why is Theriot being given the day off before an off day?
  10. He's not going to be fired....he just got an extension and is well respected within the Cubs organization. And the team's injuries will be more than enough of an excuse to keep him employed. We shall see once the sale is complete. In 2011.
  11. I realize that injuries have played a large part, but it is really hard to justify a team with this high of a payroll having so many holes. Unfortunately the impact of Hendry's offseason moves will be felt well past the end of this season, and at some point the Cubs aren't going to be able to spend themselves out of their bad signings.
  12. At what point do we put a position player in to pitch?
  13. Because for some reason CSN+ is showing the Cubs instead of the Blackhawks on Dish Network. So I can either watch the Cubs or the Cubs.
  14. So you're saying that we wouldn't have to worry about missing Bradley and Ramirez at the same time if he had taken his suspension a week ago, when Ramirez was missing a week with an injury? That is irrelevant, because Bradley was injured anyway.
  15. Well, I don't think this is a death blow to the Cubs season just yet, but it does all but prove many experts wrong in their prediction that the Cubs would run away with the NL Central. At this point, we just have to hope that the Cubs can tread water for the next 2 months and stay within 4-5 games of first place.
  16. With the salaries being equal, I'm satisfied with this trade. It's nothing to get excited about, but it isn't bad as far as 25th man exchanges go.
  17. Day games are easy, but for night games I normally just pay $10-$15 at the Irving Park lot and walk a few blocks to the stadium.
  18. Dempster is far from garbage, but I do think the Cubs were too aggressive in their contract negotiations. I doubt there was a huge market for Dempster, and the Cubs could have signed him significantly cheaper if they had been willing to wait him out.
  19. That may be the worst "good team" lineup I've ever seen. Although they weren't a good team, it reminds me of the year when Sandberg and Dunston were both hurt and we had a middle infield of Paul Noce & Mike Brumley.
  20. That's debatable. I thought I saw him on 1st Base a few games ago, but then he disappeared...
  21. They do need to put him on the DL, but my guess is that he is refusing to go on the DL because of the effect it could have on his contract vesting. I'm not sure who gets to make the final call, but if the Cubs try to put him on the DL and he says he isn't hurt, would it turn into a grievance with the MLBPA?
