  1. Is it just me or did it used to feel like anytime we fell behind on the west coast, the game was automatically over and a lost cause to watch it? This has been a nice change of pace...
  2. Maybe? Thanks? Sort of? But mostly no? Dammit. Who put the question mark on the teleprompter?
  3. Somewhere Hawk Harrelson is tracking this in his log of umpiring conspiracies.
  4. Time for another roster move tomorrow... Marshall for Fontenot. Actually, why not go with 17 pitchers?
  5. Wow, so not only is Marquis no longer a good hitter... he now has the worst swing of any pitcher on the team.
  6. Hopefully it'll be Marshall or Hart (or Soriano or Darren Baker or Hillary Clinton) I'm still not convinced that Hart is starter material, but how many innings was he up to in Iowa?
  7. Go to your room and think about what you just said.
  8. I'm probably a few pages late, but I can't stand watching Marquis pitch...
  9. Do you really think the White Sox are a good team? I think they are an average team in an underperforming divison, but sooner or later Cleveland or Detroit will put a streak together to get back into the race.
  10. Someone in Baltimore has to be wondering what they were thinking...
  11. I think this type of a deal all depends on how Edmonds performs. If he is able to stay healthy and continue hitting as he has recently, that will free up Hendry to make a big trade for a starting pitcher rather than filling a hole in CF.
  12. As much as I was frustrated with the Prior/Cubs situation and glad to see him go, I'll be rooting for him to make a comeback from all these injuries. It truly is sad to see such potential go unrealized and it would be unrealistic to expect anything spectacular out of him in the future, but I just hope to see him again sometime on a major league mound.
  13. We're not even 2 months into the season and I'm already tired of this debate. I don't understand why Piniella has to defend Wood as the closer after every single blown save. Closers blow saves, it just happens. I don't hear anyone asking questions after he converts successful saves. Unless it gets to the point where Wood is blowing 2-3 consecutive games, I don't think this should even be a story. Wood is doing a solid, while not spectacular, job as the closer and Marmol is doing an outstanding job in the setup role. I wish the media would just leave it at that.
  14. Who on the roster should Lou have put in left field? Jason Marquis? Anyone but Soriano.
  15. All I can say is that John Paxson and the Bulls have been completely bailed out by the lottery. They were really stuck being a marginal playoff team, not good enough to compete for the title and not bad enough to get a franchise-changing player in the lottery. After seeing high picks of Curry, Chandler, and Thomas go to waste, it's time to draft Rose and build this team around a true franchise player. With Rose penciled in at point guard, they have plenty of other pieces to play with in the trade market and build a solid team around him. I haven't been this excited about the Bulls in quite some time... we may finally have a player who is exciting enough to demand watching.
  16. What ever happened to him anyway? He fizzled out pretty quickly.
  17. This just seems like a negotiating ploy to me and I still expect the state to end up buying Wrigley Field. Tribune Company has no reason to quickly sell the stadium to them on their first offer, especially with the leverage of private bidders to fall back on.
  18. Save Z for tomorrow. Lou is clearly not taking the best interest of my fantasy team into consideration...
  19. Yes, but he's actually too old to pitch period. He's going to be 45 in September. Everybody talks about Julio Franco being so old, but Johnson's not much younger. Randy Johnson's really underrated in terms of old-ness :) Some might say he is "sneaky old."
  20. Yes, but he's actually too old to pitch period.
  21. You guys were right about Ron... It's like nails on the chalkboard.
  22. So am I missing something, or if Pie goes down would the Cubs not have any reserve outfielders? Ward can barely play a corner outfield position when healthy and DeRosa can play out there on occasion, but nobody can play CF. I like Reed Johnson as a reserve and part-time starter, but his numbers are coming back to reality and he isn't doing anything right now that Pie can't do. With that aside, I still fail to understand the logic of carrying 13 pitchers.
  23. He's all rested and ready to go 3 innings tomorrow to preserve a 5 run lead.
