  1. The Ayo trade just burns me. How they couldn't get a first round pick for him is just beyond me. And if they couldn't, they should have just kept him. Yeah, he was expensive to re-sign, but that doesn't mean you just give a valuable piece away for nothing.
  2. Yeah, punting on the second round picks, ESPECIALLY after this past trade deadline where the Bulls settled for second round picks as their trade returns, just doesn't sit right with me. I haven't followed the Bulls seriously for years, but have still always considered myself a fan. This year, I think I'm going to try something different. I'm going to follow Keaton Wagler and the Clippers. We'll see if that experiment lasts more than a few games, but I'll give it a shot!
  3. I've asked this before and don't remember what the answer was, but there HAS to be a metric that measures consistency or streakiness. If not, there should be, something that measures whether a player's aggreggate performance over the course of the year was fairly evenly distributed or was it extremely inconsistent. I suspect almost all players are streaky, but I'm really curious whether the players we see as very streaky would actually reflect that statistically moreso than others.
  4. Is there some type of 40-man hardship waiver the Cubs can apply for? If not, there should be.
  5. Didn't all Ben Brown's weird injury problems last year begin with a "neck strain"?
  6. They are going to be a tough watch, again, and I'm still not seeing a real path to significant improvement.
  7. Dailyn Swain Typical Bulls (bad) pick
  8. I mean, when one of the game's most marketable young stars, who is currently one of the most valuable players in baseball this season, and plays in a major market, is nowhere near being voted an All Star starter, the system is badly flawed. Sure, it always has been, but maybe it's time to look for a better way to do this. All Star starters shouldn't be determined by who can best mobilize their fans and/or hack the voting system. On a related note, why are Cubs fans suddenly so uninvested in voting for their players?
  9. As of yesterday, PCA is the #14 NL outfielder in All Star voting. Something is badly broken.
  10. I'm sad that Wagler is going to the Clippers.
  11. Ronnie, tell us about Bowen Byram.
  12. I generally trust Rea and Assad to give solid efforts. Much moreso than Cabrera.
  13. This is jumping the gun a bit, or more than a bit, but at what point does Steele's arbitration status for next year come into question? Roughly $8 Million is pocket change for a guy with Steele's (potential) upside, but at the same time, is it money well spend if there are still serious questions about how is arm is really going to bounce back? After two lost seasons, could the Cubs maybe work out a 2 year deal with him, buying out the last arbitration year at a discount and locking him into another team friendly amount for 2028?
  14. I realize every case is different, but does anyone truly expect Cade Horton to contribute in any form next year? I think we're getting a glimpse of the future here. We'll be lucky if we just get Horton making some relief appearances toward the end of the 2027 season.
  15. I assume there is more to it than just saying "hey, you're the head coach now." Interim tag or not, he will be signing on for a full season with significantly more responsibility for a top basketball program in the nation and will need to be compensated accordingly.
  16. A right hand cramp? Really? That can't be a thing an MLB pitcher leaves a game for.
  17. So, 4/5 of the opening day starting rotation on the IL, plus the other guy who was supposed to have already been back but is nowhere close to returning, plus the top AAA pitching prospect, plus the closer. Cool.
  18. And I think this is a major problem for MLB. It isn't fun to see star pitchers constantly getting injured. Teams are doing what they have to do to complete in the modern MLB landscape, but I would argue that it isn't making the sport better. I just don't know what a possible solution could be. How do you ever go back to a world where guys aren't maximized for short term gain and then discarded for the next guy who can come in and do the same thing?
  19. What is the magical future you speak of? I will believe it when I see it.
  20. Obviously that doesn't occur until he is right on the cusp of being ready to pitch in games.
  21. You mean like they did a few years ago? Jed doesn't get another rebuild.
  22. We all know about Grace and the slumpbusters. There are other stories you hear from Rizzo, Ross, and others about the things that went on in that clubhouse. Does this team not have the guy or guys to shake things up and do something crazy to loosen the team up in times like these? It sounds silly, but maybe there's something to that. Have a few beers before the game, wear your underwear on the outside of your jerseys, I don't know... Whatever they are doing clearly isn't working.
  23. Feel free to throw tomatoes, but I think Cohen and JD have been better together recently. Not QUITE as awkward.
