  1. I'm not even accounting for the possibility of Jones being available, so Johnson would be my first choice. After that, Lee or Collier.
  2. My 5 year old with an appropriate response: "Cubs win, yes! Did they ever win before?"
  3. Pitching to Nico there with first base open was a huge mistake.
  4. I think it's fair to say nobody will ever confuse Schwindel for Willie Mays.
  5. I know Schwindel was a good story last year, but there is no need for him to be on the roster for the second half of the season. The Cubs gave him a shot, but it is pretty clear that he isn't the answer at 1B. Rivas probably isn't the answer either, but the Cubs might as well let him play nearly every day to at least find out whether he might be a useful piece going forward.
  6. Finding new ways to lose every day. At least they are keeping things interesting.
  7. Ownership is completely on board with the plan for this season, so nobody is going to get fired. Whatever you may think about Ross' in-game managerial skills, firing him would be a bad look. This team clearly has a roster problem more than a manager problem. My bigger concern is that I have zero trust in Hoyer to identify the right players once the team is ready to compete. His misses have been very concerning. I would prefer to move on from him sooner than later, but that simply isn't going to happen.
  8. Hilarious. It's fun bad now.
  9. It's more sad they have more talent both in the short and long terms. Of course, they're still the worst team in the division regardless. They would be in 3rd place in the NL Central Or better, considering the schedule difficulty.
  10. Hey, why not take 3 minutes to overturn a call that could have been overturned in 10 seconds? It's not like we're over the 2 hour mark in the 3rd inning or anything.
  11. I would say "unbelievable," but this is completely believable.
  12. I don't want any part of Rodon with his injury history. Obviously he is a great pitcher when healthy, and he is probably worth the risk for a team that is one piece away, but I am too afraid of the Cubs getting burnt by injuries and bad contracts at this stage in the rebuild.
  13. Extend Willson, trade Gomes.
  14. Man, Nico has been great. He's like a better version of the best case scenario of what Madrigal was supposed to be.
  15. Beth Mowins is fine. Sutcliffe is awful, though. I was gonna say, what’s wrong with Beth Mowins? She’s solid. Technically solid maybe, but I always get a PGA Tour broadcast vibe with her, just very low key.
  16. Sutcliffe has solved the problem of guys getting hit by pitches. Just get out of the way!
  17. Does JD not travel to the west coast anymore? This Cubs broadcast team arrangement absolutely sucks. After being subjected to Beth Mowins over the weekend, now we get Sutcliffe. I like Boog & JD, but the broadcasts really suffer from the lack of consistency.
  18. I thought Morel got that one. But PJ Higgins has been impressive. I thought he was a complete nothing, and maybe he still is, but he has been hitting consistently since he got called up.
  19. If running 360 feet causes a professional athlete to not be able to get to a ball 20 minutes later, I don't know what to say.
  20. He got a few calls on pitches that were up out of the zone too. They were lucky to only give up a run. Now to lose (again) in extra innings.
  21. Yelich in LF turning routine singles into doubles.
  22. How has Tony LaRussa not been fired yet? Obviously we all know the answer, but 29 other teams would have fired him already. The White Sox are wasting a prime opportunity in their competitive window, all because of Reinsdorf's unjustified loyalty to a crusty old manager who has no business leading an MLB team.
