    Velazquez went 2-4, so we better get Heyward back in the lineup tomorrow.

    I could watch the entire game in "field levels" mode without any broadcasters.

    Nico has been one of the few bright spots this season. Whether it is at 2B or SS, we seem to have found a starting middle infielder as long as he can stay healthy.

    They'll come up with some excuse about not acquiring any of Devers, Correa or Turner then either overpay for Dansby Swanson and try and say he's just as good at a fraction of the price or they'll say Nico is our guy and there's no need to get another SS. I crack up at the "reports" that the Cubs will be in on Judge, Correa, Turner, etc. I guess these sports reporters don't remember who owns the Cubs. Can any of those guys pitch, because that's what this team needs. If you paired this lineup with the best pitching staff in the league, do you actually think they would be a good team? The team has holes everywhere.

    We've found it! The reason why the Cubs aren't competing for the division title. The problem was Tommy Hottovy all along!

    Honest to God that single transaction might make me doubt Hoyer more so than anything else he's done. That signing was stupid and pointless from the jump and never had a chance to be even remotely decent. It was his very loud declaration that we were out on Correa $4 Million for that... Wow.

    That inning ended with only 2 hitters coming to the plate. Not sure I've ever seen that before

    These pitcher signings are working out great.

    If he's not going to walk, not going to slug AT ALL, and not going to do anything special on defense, he pretty much HAS to go 5 for 12 to provide any value. Yes, Madrigal's performance since returning is not long term sustainable, my point is it is a noteworthy improvement and not currently the most pressing offensive problem at the moment(Heyward, Simmons, Rivas). Rivas is another issue altogether. I still like him, and I'm not sure what happened, but he needs a reset badly. His offense has completely disappeared and it is insane to carry a defensive replacement first baseman on a Major League roster. Get him back to Iowa and see if he can figure things out again.

    Through yesterday afternoon he was 5 for 12 since returning from the DL, so even though I understand the irritation I think he's currently better than his season line. If he's not going to walk, not going to slug AT ALL, and not going to do anything special on defense, he pretty much HAS to go 5 for 12 to provide any value.

    Madrigal has to be close to getting optioned, right? RIGHT??? I mean how long can you keep playing a guy who is barely OPS'ing .500?

    At least you have to feel good about the Cubs' chances with Heyward and Madrigal coming up.
