  1. Not even close. This is the worst officiated game I've seen this year.
  2. Apparently I'm still slow.
  3. Dusty's lineups are actually making a degree of sense these days. Did he get slapped over the head with Baseball Prospectus this offseason and learned via osmosis? I think Hendry just went out of his way to make the team Dusty-Proof... with the exception of Neifi.
  4. What's the old saying about even a blind squirrel finding a nut once in a while? are sac flies really that great? if instead of adam dunn hitting 7 hrs with runners on 3rd less than 2 outs between 2003-2005, he hit 7 deep fly balls, no one would be talking about his lack of sac flies as if it's some kind of detriment to his game. I'm more interested in his K's with runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs in direct proportion to his hits in the same scenario. That would be a good judge of the value of the sac fly.
  5. fixed. At least with Jones you can call him stuff like strap or itch. Juan doesn't inspire any easy heckling names. Juan EncarnaciOWNED This was straight up awesome. I was wondering if that was going to fly under the radar.

  7. I was actually kind of hoping he'd carry the streak a little further. I was watching the end of the game in Sears when told my girlfriend I wondered if Rollins got a hit, the Cards fan clerk smugly said "no way! My boys held him to 0-4!" then did that annoying fist pump at his side. So long as my team was winning, I care nothing about stopping a streak like that, but that's just me.

  9. Pre-injury, he posted 134, 130, 107, 129 ERA+. That's not too terribly shabby. But his last full season was that 107. The 129 was in less than half a season. Wood, who is a year younger, put up a 133 in his last full season. I still believe you have to try Wood in the rotation when he comes back, as he's still a little younger and has been a little more dominating when able to pitch. I'm not begging for Miller to go to the pen, but I think he's a better candidate than Wood. By the way, for all the Wood and Prior bashing, let's just look at Miller, who has 1 major league season with 200+ innings and is older than both. I don't think anyone's advocating having Wood in the pen.
  10. He's probably starting because Dusty sees Neifi as a "Cardinal Killer" since he won that one game for us with the walkoff granny. Granted that was awesome to watch, I'd almost take it back if it meant Neifi not starting against the Cards.
  11. It's only fair for him to do that. They were absolutely destroying the Phils at that point, and Rollins alone wasn't about to change that. Pitching around him would be a terrible thing to do in that scenario.
  12. Then just stood there instead of chasing down the ball.
  13. It is when you have to wait through the VWR just to be frustrated further by high transaction volumes. That you have to keep retrying.
  14. really, what's happening to you is not all that uncommon for the VWR system. try the first day of ticket sales for the cubs - last year, i had well over a hundred windows open over a dozen computers (yay for working in a research lab where nobody was using them that day) and didn't get a chance to purchase tickets once (this was over 8+ hours). No, this is different. Once you actually get in and try to buy tickets you get a message saying the transaction volume is too high and to try again later. I've been trying for a while now while still getting the same message.
  15. I'm with you on that. Sounds like he wants to play here and will do what it takes to make it happen. Call him the Anti-Johnny Damon.
  16. http://frontline.purchasenow2.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?gameid=2006/08/27/chnmlb-slnmlb-1&roomid=5 That's the link for more windows for Cards games.
  17. The Angels would have the best 3-4-5 in baseball with Vlad, Miggy and GA if they got that deal done. That would be SICK!
  18. Considering Pujols is a veteran of the Spanish-American War, I wouldn't exactly call him "young". Hahaha. Awesome.
  19. How old is he? I thought I remember him being a bit older than reported.
  20. In no particular order: 1. Ryne Sandberg 2. Nomar Garciaparra (go figure) 3. Nolan Ryan 4. Andre Dawson 5. Mark Prior
  21. grissom retired. I should've checked the transaction forum first. Wow.
  22. What spot would Pagan be taking? If it's him over Grissom, I'm totally in favor of it.
  23. Hey, I flew down and saw Rusch and Williams... not exactly what I had in mind. Though I did see Pie hit a couple of triples.
