  1. should we start a pool to pick which Cardinals pitcher will hit a Marlin with obvious intent, admit he threw at the Marlin with intent, and not get suspended? and who ever heard of a manager getting up an a players face? doesn't that warrant an ejection? God, I wish LoDuca had dropped that sanctimonious sack of crap right there. I would have taken up a collection to help pay the fine. Anybody else ever notice that's the Cardinals, who would NEVER throw at anyone without cause because they play the game the RIGHT way and their manager is a GENIUS (just ask him), are always involved in these beanball wars?
  2. This is what happens when you use a Canadian as your closer. Can't handle the heat. [/dusty] BTW, did anybody ask our brilliant field general why he didn't sent Rothschild out there even ONCE to talk to Dempster last night?
  3. Dusty is an idiot. There's absolutely no reason for Lee and ARam not to be hitting 3-4 in this line-up. The R-L-R thing is a mile-high pile of horsecrap. Not only is Dusty going to cost Lee the Triple Crown, he's going to cost this team another playoff appearance.
  4. Why? Because Dusty is an idiot.
  5. I listened to the XM morning show today and I don't remember them talking about this "list."
  6. Anything less than a sweep is unacceptable. Win you bums.
  7. You might want to drive to Philly instead.
  8. I guess I'm not sure how the whole waiver system works. Wouldn't Cincy have really high priority, and if they were to claim him, he doesn't have to try and make it through the rest of the teams... would he? Couldn't a deal be made right with Cincy instead of waiting to see if others would claim him? Does the waiver list go worst record to best regardless of league or does it go worst to first in one league then worst to first in the other league? If they go thru all the NL clubs first, Cincy would be one of the first teams and theoretically could put in a claim for Corey then the deal could be made. Assuming Griffey clears waivers too.
  9. Yes, I have have. But, sinceI heard it this moring on the score (yes that score), and since now one else is reporting it--i am hoping that I was day dreaming. BUT, I was in the car this morning around 9:30-1:000, and they broke away from the show (i think it was North...?) and said "the cubs are to recall Corey patterson." That was it, no when or for who. But, now that I am home for the day, and this board is not up in arms--I am starting to wonder If i sprinkled a little PCP on my cheerios. I am serious about this, I SWEAR i heard this. But, I can not believe no one else did?!?!? I'm going to guess that if that's true he comes up for one of the three pitchers we think will be sent down and Cedeno still goes down later this week for Nomar. By Friday, that'd give Baker a bench of: Murton R Blanco R Hollandsworth L Patterson L Perez S Macias S Unless there's a deal in the near future of course.
  10. Speaking of Corey, has anybody seen anything today saying he'll be called up this week?
  11. Wrong. Macias is a utilty man who can play all 9 positions POORLY, and he's the emergancy catcher. But you're right. He has to go.
  12. Wrong. Macias is a utilty man who can play all 9 positions POORLY, and he's the emergancy catcher. But you're right. He has to go. [/b]
  13. It's probably going to look like this: Lawton Nomar/Walker Lee Burnitz Ramirez Walker/Nomar Hairston Barrett/Blanco 1st PH against LH: Neifi 1st PH against RH: Hollandsworth Stealing a paycheck: Macias Nailed to the bench: Murton
  14. Yeah, it needs to stop soon. Andy Pettitte with 8 consecutive starts allowing 1 run or less, Wandy Rodriguez and Astacio beating Martinez and Benson...this madness can't continue for much longer. Houston did this same thing last year but they didn't start until August.
  15. Dusty's going to run Lee and Ramirez into the ground again this year for the simple reason that there is no true first base back-up for Lee and the only back-up for Ramirez is the Panamanian Service Station Attendant.
  16. Because he's left-handed, young, cheap and breathing.
  17. No, because Hairston and the prospects would get claimed. Then why didn't the Cardinals' prospects get claimed last year when they did the Walker deal? I think only guys on the 25-man roster have to go thru waivers. Could be wrong though.
  18. Don't know if this has been brought up anywhere else but it was mentioned on XM Radio's Baseball This Morning Show that Houston and Seattle worked out a deal to send Jamie Moyer to Houston but Moyer exercised his 10-5 rights and killed the deal.
  19. There are 39 guys on the 40-man right now, not counting Williamson and Garciaparra who are on the 60-day DL. So not only will three guys need to go down but somebody has to get DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot. McClain is not on the 40-man so the chances of him coming up are pretty slim. As others have said, I think Mitre, Wuertz and Cedeno are ticketed for Des Moines when the DL trio is activated. My guess is that Grieve gets DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot or Greenberg gets moved to the 60-day DL so Chad Fox doesn't get lonely. The position players on the 40-man and not on the DL are Soto, Fontenot, Lewis, Grieve and Patterson. Soto and Lewis are right-handed hitters. Soto is a catcher. Assuming Nomar moves back into the starting line-up, the bench will look like this by Friday: Murton ® Blanco ® Hollandsworth (L) Perez (S) Macias (S) While Macias is a waste of a roster spot, there's nobody immediately available at Iowa who's any better and hits from the right side of the plate. Given that Blanco is rarely used a pinch hitter and Dusty would rather be locked in a phone booth with a pack of rabid beavers than use a rookie in a key situation, we can only hope Neifi gets used as the first RH PH instead of the Panamanian Service Station Attendant. The other problem with having Macias on the roster instead of a serviceable corner infielder is that Baker is going to run Lee and Ramirez into the ground again this year. ARam could probably use a day or two to rest his leg but Macias is his only back-up. Lee's only missed three games all year and could use a break once in awhile but there's no true back-up for him either.
  20. This trade still doesn't change the fact that this is a .500 ballclub because it plays with no sense of urgency. Championship caliber teams do not lay down like dogs and go 3-4 at home against crap teams like Arizona and San Francisco. What a disgrace. If they don't win at least eight of the next 10 this close to being a waste of a season is over. Show us you have some heart boys.
  21. I'm pretty sure he played LF a little bit when he came up because Palmeiro was still there and may have played it in the minors as well. I don't think he'd have any problem doing that. Again, there's probably no way they deal him but picking up Nevin raises some questions.
