    If I'm Hendry I tell Baker that all the left field help he's going to get just got called up from West Tenn. Shut up and play Murton Dusty. And while you're at it, play Cedeno too. Dump Macias and Remlinger and bring up two more hitters.

    It'd be just like Dusty to start Greenberg, a left-handed hitter, in his MLB debut against Dontrelle Willis but not play Murton. Go get 'em kid. Don't want to screw up Holly's swing. With that said, is there any chance this game will even be played tonight given the weather? And am I right in saying the Cubs haven't played at Florida since Game 5 of the NLCS? Wasn't the washed-out trip to Florida the only one scheduled last year?

    Right now everybody but Zambrano, Prior, Lee and Ramirez should be available for the right price. Off the top of my head, something like this could happen: Hairston 2B Cedeno SS Lee 1B Dunn LF Ramirez 3B Burnitz RF Pie CF Barrett C Bench Hollandsworth Dellucci/Mench back-up middle infielder back-up center fielder back-up corner infielder Back-up catcher Zambrano Prior Wood Williams Hill Wagner Dempster Wuertz Van Buren Ohman Wellmeyer

    I didn't even know Barrett had a shoulder problem. It'd be bad enough to lose ARam or Lee but at least the Cubs would have a fighting chance to find a decent replacement. If Barrett goes down it's all Blanco all the time. Egad.

    Not sure where Crasnick is getting his info. Littlefield said on Baseball This AM that Pittsburgh is essentially out of the contract-dumping business. They may be thinking of dealing Lawton but they aren't going to give him away like they did Ramirez and Lofton.

    Yes there is a DH in international play. Personally I think Rolen is hands down the best 3B in baseball and ARod is the best shortstop.

    No way that Bonds plays in this thing given the fact international drug testing is more stringent than MLB's. If it's me, my line-up looks like this for the US: Juan Pierre, CF Lance Berkman, RF* Scott Rolen, 3B Albert Pujols, DH* Derrek Lee, 1B Cliff Floyd, LF Alex Rodriguez, SS Jason Varitek, C Mark Loretta, 2B *- The way I understand it, Pujols could play for the US or the DR. If he plays for the DR, Todd Helton's my DH and Gary Sheffield's my RF, Loretta hits second, Sheffield hits fourth and Helton hits fifth. Everybody else bumps down one spot. Clemens, Maddux, Mulder, Willis and Beckett is the rotation. Prior and Sheets, among others, come out of the pen. Billy Wagner closes. Torre'd be the manager.

    1. They don't. 2. MLB doesn't care about fair. MLB cares about getting a final eight of: USA Cuba Japan Dominican Republic Venezuela Korea Puerto Rico Canada and a semifinal with: Japan v. Cuba; USA v. Dominican Republic or Venezuela followed by a USA-Cuba final. I think this is an outstanding idea and I'm looking forward to watching it.

    I would think the decision to start Leicester would be on Hendry moreso than Baker. Is there any final word on who was sent back down?
