  1. I smell a 1-2-3 inning for Hawkins today. Perfect capper to what will be a wasted homestand if they lose today.
  2. Where's William Ligue when you really need him? Heck, I didn't want watching Cub playoff baseball to interfere with the return of the NHL anyway.
  3. #### you Dusty. How many more games you going to throw before your gambling debt is paid off?

  5. He can't. He can't play any of the other positions Dusty uses him at either. He's the most versatile player on the team. He sucks at seven different positions. That just made me laugh out loud at work... and now everyone is looking at me funny. Thanks. =D> 8)
  6. Don't know that I've seen a guy get hit with a batted ball that he hit himself in a long time, maybe ever. C'mon Tomko, break Macias' wrist.

  8. Macias should be pumping gas back in Panama City..
  9. I think MLB Security needs to look into Dusty's financial situation. He must be throwing games to cover some gambling debts. That's the only thing that makes sense after looking at that line-up.
  10. Or: Hairston-Garciaparra-Lee-Ramirez-Burnitz-MURTON-Walker-Barrett The Cubs have a left fielder already. Problem is, the manager doesn't know it.[/b]
  11. Actions speak louder than words. They said the same things late last year too.
  12. The fact is, Hollandsworth is a good pinch hitter. My guess is Gerut hasn't had to do that very much. Once again, Dusty doesn't know how to use his roster. The more critical mistake IMO was not putting Gerut in CF when Hairston got hurt. Absolutely no excuse for using the Panamanian Service Station Attendent in that situation. Of course, if Dusty had done that he probably would have used Macias over Holly in the eighth. BTW, Hawkins never threw a strike to Macias in that at-bat.
  13. The fundamental problem with this team is not the bullpen, it's not lack of clutch hitting, it's not even the Bayloresque moves of Dusty the Dumbbutt. No, the over-riding problem with this club is the lack of a sense of urgency. And that starts with the manager. If you know you're not going to get benched regardless of how crappy you play, if you know you aren't going to hear about it for refusing to change your approach at the plate, if you know your manager operates under the "we'll get 'em tomorrow" philosophy it's easy to give away games like the one last night. As well as this club has played since the break (8-5), its record should really be 11-2. There was no excuse for dropping a game at home to Pittsburgh, coughing up a four-run lead to Cincy and hacking for the fences with a 20-mph wind blowing in your faces against a junkball no-name slapdick from San Francisco. Give Houston this schedule and they're 11-2 right now. They play with a sense of urgency. This team doesn't. And that failing lies entirely at Dusty Baker's feet.
  14. This team should be 6-0 at home since the all-star break. No excuse for performances like last night's. No excuse at all.
  15. I think he rolled his ankle. Has anybody told Baker that Hairston on crutches would be a better option than Jose Freakin' Macias? I wonder if Baker even knows Gerut is a centerfielder.
  16. Dude, Holly's a proven veteran. Just like Macias.
  17. That's the smart move. Gerut is a better hitter against RH than Hollandsworth. To be honest, with Gerut and Murton on the roster, there's no reason for Hollandsworth to get any more than a spot start in CF. I haven't looked at the numbers but my guess is that Holly is the better hitter in PH situations than Gerut is. Gerut should have already been in the game in CF anyway instead of our Panamanian service station employee.
  18. They booed him because he deserved it.
  19. It's not just that, but consider how bad Hollandsworth has been in July: .220/.288/.678 in 58 ab On the other hand, Murton has been phenomenal: .462/.531/1.070 in 26 ab We are fortunate that the Cubs have faced an abnormally high number of LHP this month, or Murton would be rotting away. I would be shocked to see Matt Murton start today, despite the fact that Hollandsworth is 2-24. Dude, Matt played the whole game last night. I didn't use Holly in the eighth inning because I'm saving him for today...
  20. Why not Holly? He has to be able to play CF as well as Macias. Why didn't Hollandsworth PH in the eighth instead of Gerut? Hollandsworth stinks as an everyday guy but he's the best pinch hitter on the ballclub and Dusty didn't even use him last night. Gerut should have replaced Hairston and Holly should have PH. Of course I say all this knowing full well that if Hairston hadn't been pulled Macias would have been the PH in the 8th.
  21. As much as I hate to see Hollandsworth starting over Murton I'd love to know what the hell Baker was thinking sending Gerut up to PH instead of Hollandsworth in the 8th inning last night.
  22. If Baker's serious about this he joins Don Baylor on the Village Idiot list. That's absolutely ridiculous.
  23. The problem is you aren't the manager, Dusty the Dumbass is and he won't play Murton unless he absolutely has to.
  24. Was there ever any report on what happened to Hairston? He's hurt right? Even Dusty isn't dumb enough to yank him and insert our Panamanian service station attendant is he?
