  1. this is ridiculous. To expect an undefeated homestand regardless of the opposition is WAY to high. The expectation would be to win both series. a 5-2 homestand is more then accpetable. It's not ridiculous when you're playing two lousy offensive teams like San Francisco and Arizona. And remember, it's tough to go on a long winning streak if you're incapable of sweeping even one series. I'm starting to think this is going to go like 2004. They'll dink around in August and September and give away just enough games to not have the wild card sewn up before the last series of the year then completely collapse in Houston to end the season. And Baker will keep his job.
  2. This is a wasted homestand regardless of what happens the next three days. Should have been 7-0 against these two teams. What a waste.
  3. This loss isn't on the bullpen. Or Baker. It's on our gutless hitting in the clutch. Baker ran out a line-up we've been asking for (minus Walker) and every single guy choked. Every. Single. Guy. Playoff teams do not give away games to slapdick teams like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, San Francisco and Arizona.
  4. I was just going to point out that the only other LH option on the bench was Macias so using Holly was a good idea in that situation. Then I remembered Walker was also on the bench. ugh. Goody, Rem in to face a lefty to start the inning. This will end well.
  5. WRONG. It'd be a 1 run game if Dusty had pulled Ohman. How many times has Dusty made this 2 inning mistake with Ohman this year so far, 10? GET A CLUE MORAN!! Seeing as how this team has yet to score a run, why does it matter if it's 1-0 or 3-0?
  6. The Cubs are about to be 12-6 in their last 18 which looks pretty good until you realize they should be 16-2 but aren't thanks to their gutless hitters.
  7. Can't blame Dusty for losing this one. Absolutely no excuse for this offensive performance. None at all. The continued gutless performance of the hitters in crucial situations is unacceptable. Another complete disgrace to this point.
  8. Once again, there is absolutely no excuse for this kind of disgraceful offensive performance.
  9. Goody, no Neifi or Hollandworth! Why is Barrett hitting 5th lately?? Crap, nevermind, Neifi is in there  Barrett's hitting up in the line-up when there's a lefty on the mound.
  10. "Talent" and "valuable" are definitely not 2 words I would personally use to describe the Todd Hollandsworth that I have been watching the last 4 weeks. Hollandsworth is the best pinch hitter on the roster. It's not his fault Baker's an idiot.
  11. That would suck. I'm hoping Hendry has something better than that up his sleeve. It wouldn't suck but unless he's going to play CF I don't know what they plan to do with him unless Walker's going somewhere.
  12. I just posted on another thread that I wouldn't be surprised if Soriano was a Cub this weekend.
  13. Don't be surprised if Soriano winds up a Cub. Not saying it'll happen but that's just the kind fo surprise deal Hendry would pull off.
  14. Not only no but hell no. I agree that Manny would be an interesting addition though. He'd bring another great bat to the line-up and provide hours of amusement for Cubs fans with his adventures in left field. The guy would need a road map to play left in Wrigley. This is a little off-topic but I don't understand the incredible man crush I see here and on other Cubs boards for Brian Giles. He's 35 years old and on the downside of his career. In other words, he's just the kind of guy the Cubs made a habit of signing for years and years before Hendry got here (Benito Sanitago, Jeff Blauser, Howard Johnson, George Bell, Dave Smith, Danny Jackson, Rich Gossage, etc., etc., etc.).
  15. I saw that yesterday and was a little surprised. It seems as if Lawton and Gerut would have very different roles with this team. Gerut seems more like a pickup mainly for the future, who can also help out off the bench and with some spot starts. You have to imagine that Lawton would have been plugged into LF and leadoff right away. That surprised me too. Love to know what Pittsburgh was asking for Lawton. The guy's never really impressed me. I'd rather have Murton starting with Gerut giving him a day off once in awhile and Hollandsworth back in the role he excels at, No. 1 LH PH.
  16. Kinda nice to see a guy who sucked in Chicago not come back to haunt them for a change. Quality work this week LaTroy.
  17. Man, I thought Santo was going to stroke out right there in the booth.
  18. They absolutely need to sweep this series. They should be unbeaten at home since the all-star break right now.
  19. C'mon Fassero, hit Macias in the wrist.
  20. That's kinda relative given that he sucks at a high rate of speed from BOTH sides. Bunting's a good idea but I'd have Hairston do it and get the Gremlin out of the game..
  21. Hairston was going to pinch hit for the pitcher.
  22. wouldn't be shocked if Neifi PH's for Cedeno.
  23. E-6 on Vizquel, Lee to third, ARam to first. Baker needs to be shot if Murton doesn't pinch hit for Hollandsworthless.
