  1. Where would Texiera play? Left field. And he could give Lee a day off once in awhile. Could probably spell Ramirez if need be. Not saying the Rangers would even consider this but they just acquired Phil Nevin and the only positions he can play are ones the Rangers don't need anybody: 1B, 3B, LF, RF, DH.
  2. Let me throw something else out. Would you include Rich Hill in a deal for Mark Texieria?
  3. A better trade with Texas would be Gene Clines and Gary Matthews for Rudy Jaramillo.
  4. Roberts is, more than likely, a better defensive CF. Roberts is more of base stealing threat. Dusty doesn't like Hairston. Makes sense to me.
  5. Wuertz, Mitre and Cedeno check back into the Des Moines Marriott. Grieve gets DFA'd off the 40-man or Greenberg is moved to the 60 day DL so Chad Fox won't be lonely.
  6. Roberts is also a center fielder and Hairston isn't.
  7. That may have more to do with the fact that the Cubs and Reds play 16 times a year and the Cubs and Twins don't.
  8. I was just going to say that dealing for Roberts means Hairston is going somewhere. And if they're dealing for Roberts Corey's probably gone after the season. I'm in the minority but I wouldn't mind seeing Soriano for no other reason than something has to be done to shake up this ballclub. Dealing Walker might be the wake-up call these guys need. Hate to lose Hill though.
  9. There has to be another deal at hand for the Rangers. I about fell off my barstool when I saw this deal scroll across the screen last night. As desperate as Texas is for pitching Park had to go. He was, by all reports, a demoralizing influence in the clubhouse and all but quit on the mound, again according to reports, against Oakland recently. The first thing I thought when I saw this was that Nevin was going someplace else soon. They don't need an outfielder, they don't need a DH and they definitely don't need a first baseman. I don't know why'd they'd trade for him then deal Delluci or Mench, who are much younger and much cheaper. Nevin to Chicago perhaps?
  10. If Houston makes no significant additions and the Cubs get Nomar, Williamson and Wood back which team is in better shape the rest of the way?
  11. Please feel free to hammer me. I deserve it. I now promise for the remainder of the season to count to 10 and repeat the words "Serenity Now" five times before I post anything during a game.
  12. Teams with heart don't let that affect them. So when the Marlins collapsed last year in September like the Cubs that means they have no heart? I love when a team's shortcomings get blamed on a completely abstract concept. Objectively, their offense is tired and their bullpen is bad. Ok, championship teams don't let that affect them.
  13. With an all star 3b out, the lineup's pretty weak. This shows ARam importance. They scored zero runs with him in the line-up yesterday. This also shows the continued stupidity of employing a slapdick like Jose Macias as his only back-up too.
  14. And again with the second guessing. MrWood is the only one that said to pull Prior after the 7th. In this situation, Dusty's hands are tied. There is nobody trustworthy in the pen except Dempster and we need him for the 9th. Yesterday and today are both products of not having a decent arm in the pen. Also, you cannot expect to win too many games when you only score 2 runs at home. You can't expect your starters to throw complete games every day.
  15. Teams with heart don't let that affect them.
  16. Awful enough to help throw a shutout yesterday when Ramirez was in the line-up.
  17. I've come to the conclusion this club is going to lay down like dogs and there's no reason to deal for anybody. If the best you can hope for at home is a split with the Diamondbacks it's time to start making tee times for October.
  18. I didn't read thru all 12 pages of this thread but supposedly the Rangers initially wanted Hill and Murton for Soriano. Don't know how accurate that is but that's what I heard. I'd have to question that simply because the Rangers don't need a corner outfielder and it's not like they'd want to try to convert Murton to a first or third baseman. They need a center fielder though.
  19. Texas wants pitching, pitching and more pitching. Plus they want pitching. I don't think I'd be too worried about losing position players unless its done to clear a roster spot.
  20. What were Soriano's home/road splits when he played in New York?
  21. Also relating to Texas baseball, via Will Carroll, A Dallas radio station is saying that the Rangers are close to sending Soriano to the Mets for Cameron and Milledge. Bruce Levine was on ESPN 1000 a little while ago and said the Cubs were also trying to get Soriano. All I have to say is get the deal done quick Minaya. I don't want Soriano anywhere near this team. Nothing on any of the Dallas newscasts about Soriano going to NY and he's in the line-up tonight for the Rangers.
  22. Someone posted on another thread that Soriano was going to NY for Mike Cameron. I'm watching the 6 p.m. sports here and they haven't said anything about it.
