  1. The problem is that Dusty won't do that. These clowns will play just well enough for him to continue to insist they're still in the race. Besides he plays kids all the time in spring training...
  2. Wonder if Ronnie's brining Fontenot with him.
  3. They're going to call up Fontenot so he can sit next to Cedeno on the bench and they can watch Perez and Macias play every freakin' day.
  4. It' was so nice being out of the country and being able to resist the urge to put myself through this torture. At this point shut ARam down for the year and skip Prior's next start. Baker's not going to be fired but Rothschild will not be back.
  5. Oh good, Macias gets to play. Egad.
  6. Interesting that Baker is allowing Corey to "work through things" in the majors during a playoff race but guys like Matt Murton and Ronnie Cedeno rot down in Des Moines so players like Macias and Perez can continue to steal money from the Tribune by impersonating professional baseball players.
  7. I'm rooting for a riot. I want the fans to pelt these worthless bums with rotten fruit and garbage. Or at least dump a beer on Edmonds' head and make his mascara run.
  8. To whoever called me out a few weeks ago when I strenously pointed out this choking dog team has no heart, whenever you want to apologize to me, I'm ready.
  9. If they had kept Dave Hansen instead of Macias they would have had a guy to give Lee a day off now and then.
  10. How'd she look? Could she play corner for the Bears?
  11. LoneStarCubFan = find a dictionary. Poise and heart have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other. This team has PLENTY of heart to still be at .500 after everything that's happnneed. They aren't gutless or heartless or any other vitriolic adjective that makes you feel better when you spew it at them. They are talented, but not good. They aren't coached well, and they rely too much on the long ball. They don't execute. All of these are reasons they suck, not because they have a lack of heart. Today a team with a lack of heart would have rolled over. They didn't. Cratering in pressure situations equates to no heart whether you want to admit it or not.
  12. I'll amend my prediction of fourth place by Monday to fourth place by Friday night.
  13. Playoff run? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Please. Nomah >>> Neifi, and Lawton should help this club. They should be able to hang in there for a while. If Houston beats up on the Cubs, then of course it's over. "We'll put it together when we get our guys back" is the same line of crap they fed us a year ago. Have you forgotten that already? Sorry, I'm not falling for that lie a second time. Have you forgotten 2003?? Uh no, this team is nowhere near as good as that one. And that Astros team wasn't as good as this one. Yes, bring back Choi/Simon, Gonzo and Damien Miller. Matt Clement Joe Borowski Kenny Lofton Moises Alou Kerry Wood

  16. You are correct neely however, in the game that Lee tried to steal 3rd, IIRC the Cubs were up by several runs so they could make risky plays that would not normally be made in a closer game. They were losing by a run.
  17. Don't kid yourself. It's not going to come together this year. Or any year with The Village Idiot managing this team.
  18. Don't worry, they'll put it together this weekend. Haven't you heard? The National League's slumpbuster is coming to town.

  20.          100 million payroll. That's so cheap. It's an 87 million dollar payroll. Calling it a 100 million payroll is another copout by the Trib. Nope. Paying off contracts of underachieving players is part of the cost of doing business. Some contracts work out swell, some don't. The dollar cost is the same. When players overachieve relative to their salaries nobody adds imaginary dollars to payroll quotes. Which is a load of crap because the Trib could afford to sign Alou or Beltran even while paying Sosa but they were too cheap to do it.
  21. I would. But you can consider Rothschild as good as gone at the end of the year. Gotta have a scapegoat and it ain't gonna be one of Baker's boys (Pole, Matthews, Clines, Speier).
  22. Options are a yearly thing, not a number of call-ups thing. You can call a guy up and down as many times as you want for three years once you bring him up the first time so sending Cedeno down won't burn an option.
  23. Fourth place by Monday. You're a complete and utter disgrace to the uniform you clowns.

  25. Take Williams and Hill's 5 inning outings out of the rotation and we may not see much of Remlinger, as Prior and Z usually go late into the game. Maddux really needs to pick up the slack though. Perhaps Kerry Wood can pitch 2 innings every start Maddux is due?? I like Hill and Williams and hope they're 2 of the starters next year. However, I don't want to see them starting down the stretch run. Be interesting to see how a team handles facing Maddux for five-six innings then sees Wood for an inning or two.
