  1. Near the end of the article, the availability of Ichiro is briefly discussed. He will be available after next season and it seems that he will explore free agency. I wonder if Seattle will consider trading him this off season if they feel they are going to lose him after the 2007 season. It's just more made up BS from Phil Rogers. This guy is high. Please name one story he's ever broken.
  2. The guy is throwing balls galore and he swings at a 3-0. Why? I hope Hendry signs Dusty to a 5 year deal soon. jones is a moron, we have known this from day 1 And since the end of April, he's the team's best hitter. Hopefully this the last game I have to watch Mr. Overrated Todd play for the Cubs.
  3. Well he's hitting over .300 so he must just kill the 0-0 and 0-1 pitches.
  4. Maybe it's time to make Guzman a closer candidate.Maybe it's time for you to remember that Guzman has missed most of the last couple of years due to injury and has recently gathered dust on the Cubs' bench. Patience. I wasn't insulting him, I think we need a closer and with his stuff he could be terrific.
  5. Maybe it's time to make Guzman a closer candidate.
  6. Keep drinking the old score/Stone kool-aid. Stoney is in his proper role-second guesser. That's all he's done in the last 20 years. Little wonder he never became a GM or anything else.
  7. Barry Rozner puts the trade rumor in his column today as if it's his idea. What a clown.
  8. Jones has two sore shoulders which hamper his power now.
  9. I really haven't seen Williamson do much to back up his big talk. So far, he's either on the DL or sucking.
  10. Nice move Todd, see' ya on another team real soon.
  11. I'm pretty sure that Paul Depodesta is available. good. i think depo deserves another chance. his replacement in LA is going to get all the credit for his team too. They replaced most of Depo's players.
  12. I guess BP doesn't actually watch games. BP isn't the greatest, but they're at least as good as any of our hazy recollections. Again, he's not a hack by any stretch. If BP said he is gold glove caliber, then I will state they have never watched a game. No one else in the world would say he is gold glove caliber. I think he has a fine future, but he is slumping and until he gets some success he will compund the slump. Sitting for a while is a good thing, not a bad thing.Back to BP, how can you honestly give credibility to a publication that says he is gold glove caliber?
  13. I guess BP doesn't actually watch games.
  14. But his bat at least knocks in some runs.
  15. I don't wish to expand on this particular quote Fine, I'll do it. I can get away with it better than you can. You're established. I don't even have a username. With someone who has as many antiquated baseball theories as Dusty Baker, I wouldn't rule "I like players that look like me" out. Maybe it's because he can't hit now and isn't driving in any runs.
  16. from ESPN's draft preview "Kyle Drabek, RHP, The Woodlands H.S. (The Woodlands, Texas) On talent alone, Drabek would rank as the draft's top high school pitching prospect ... and probably its top high school hitting prospect as well, although every insider I spoke with ranked him as a pitcher. Drabek works with a five-pitch repertoire, but his selling points are the mid-90s fastball and an outstanding curve. Oddly enough for the son of a pretty good big-leaguer, Drabek is not a polished pitcher, but is more of a talented arm who'd need some development. But the knocks on Drabek are substantial, from reports calling him "spoiled" to a history of off-field incidents, including a public intoxication charge that was dismissed and a one-car accident in which he rammed his SUV into a tree. Were it not for makeup concerns that have the names Jeff Allison and Josh Hamilton on some people's lips, Drabek would probably go in the top five picks, perhaps as the top pick overall, but one scouting director with whom I spoke called Drabek "the wild card" -- no one knows where he'll go.
  17. Hopefully he wasn't bragging about how ineffective he was with his protest, with the publicity he generated beforehand. biggest crowd since 1978 vs 15 protesters, kind of pathetic I'd say.
  18. "It was the biggest crowd at Wrigley since 41,677 came to a doubleheader against the Dodgers on July 16, 1978. " Guess the protest didn't have much impact on attendance.
  19. Why are you surprised? I told you a month ago that both would have extensions If they wanted it, 2 to 4 years. look for Dusty to get 2 more years. Stone isn't issuing a newsflash. He makes it sound like he's in the know, but that is just his self importance talking. He is one of the least respected men around baseball by the industry people.
  20. I totally agree with you. We need a bat far more than anything else. Murton is a nice player but Cabera is the type of bat that is needed.
  21. Not the first time. They go at it all the time. Can't wait for Jay to respond, should be a good column. Hawk is a low rent scum, but then again so is Marriotti.
