  1. I did and that's why he's in AAA hitting the blazing 248.
  2. Why do you intentionally misrepresent the point other people make? What is misrepresented? A .248 average in AAA? I know Hendry is waiting to get Bobby Crosby for this star. Give it up. People think he's a player and he isn't.
  3. You're right. A guy can't hit minor league pitching probably will do better against major league pitching.
  4. You don't get it. No one is saying Grieve is great, or should start. All he has to do is take a walk to be an improvement over what has been coming off the bench. It's not like anyone on the bench is that much better (aside from Cedeno), particularly Macias. Swapping out Macias for Grieve would be a world of improvement. Grieve is more of a major league player than Macias is or Wilson was, and they were on the team. I saw Grieve play at a game at Round Rock. Poor attitude / body language. Seemed unprofessional to me. While I don't like Macias' role with the Cubs, but I'd prefer his hustle and effort to seeing Grieve at Wrigley. Gee, you think that's what all the other teams see too. But he takes a walk. Nothing worse than experts who never see a guy play. Seriously, thanks for your insight. I was thinking I was alone in not think Big Ben was the salvation.
  5. They do have Steve Stone though. Woo Hoo, another bitter self proclaimed genius. Doesn't anyone ever wonder why, if he's so smart, nobody hires him to run a team? I know why. Most of you should figure it out too. He NEVER helped any pitcher on the Cubs, just a critic. Not much demand for a thin skinned, second guessing critic.

  7. Good grief, he isn't hitting minor league pitching, he's hitting a blazing .248 at AAA. Give it up, this guy is NOT a major league player.
  8. Hoping for the walk? Best of luck. The called 3rd strike is more likely with him. Just someone tell me why EVERY OTHER TEAM INCLUDING THE A"s have passed on him? Please tell me. Do you really think Hendry is trying to hold up teams trying to get him?
  9. If Abreu was ever seriously dangled about by Philly, I would hope the Cubs would go after him hard. He is exactly what this team needs. I would also be terrified of the possibilty that another Philly/Cardinals trade could happen, while the Cubs watched on the sidelines. This is a great example of why people consider writers morons.
  10. Unless the Trib sells and the new owners fire everyone in the organization, Stone and Grace will never work for the Cubs again.
  11. If soft hitter means guy who gets on base more than a third of the time, I have to disagree. You counting walks not his hits. He is a very soft hitter. Let me ask you a simple question, if he is so good why haven't all the contenders tried to trade for him? The Cubs would gladly trade him. they aren't keeping him at Iowa for the future. People just don't consider him a major league hitter, not walker. yes, because walks are terrible. all they do is clog the bases. people who walk can't score runs. For all you walk lovers, he plays a position that requires more than walks. He can't lead off, too slow. He doesn't knock in runs and he strikes out. Maybe for your team, but no other major league team seems to want him to play regularly for their team. He's not an improvement.
  12. Thanks Ron. How does David Aardsma look and how do you judge his potential to help the Cubs?

  14. Ben Grieve? What's with all the love for this guy? He takes walks and not much more. We need pitching and not another soft hitter.
  15. George recorded the greatest country song of all time-"He stopped Lovin' Her Today". Go DJaxx!!
  16. What? Even he says he can't play third.
  17. Reading the Suntimes about his score radio show, his feelings are still interfering. Chip is a dolt, thank god he's gone. The only thing he had going for him was that he was a member of the lucky sperm club.
  18. Where did this come from? From a long day of drinking. perhaps?
  19. When is Hairston going to start to earn all of this love on this board. So far, he plays like he deserves to be on the bench. Mediocre defense, hitting and speed. That's all I've seen from him.
  20. It is one red line saying "numbers 01175-03500 report to gate K now"
  21. I've had my season tickets since 1983. They were $8 per seat, now $60 per seat for prime games. It really hurts to write that check now.
