  1. Contrary to the hate, these two are ones that have played up to expectations or exceeded expectations this year. They are NOT the problem with this team. So sucky players are only a problem if their suckiness is unexpected? Actually, they don't suck. Yes, on this board they suck, but in reality, they don't. In the real world of baseball. Which reality? In the real world of baseball.

  4. They got what they deserved. Totally justified. Look, on this site you can't attack others, so why is it okay for people on the radio to do it? Entertainment value? Hardly, this was the station that broadcasts the Giants games, they have a right to protect that investment. These clowns thought they were funny, maybe they can stand on the wharf and entertain people with their routine. They have the right to free speech, just not a right to do it on the employers dime. The shock type style is entertaining to a segment of the audience, but sponsors, teams and management of stations also have a responsibility to others in the audience who don't find that type of style entertaining.
  5. Well, the station finally fired him and 2 others.
  6. Analyzing a situation doesn't mean you take cheap shots when not warranted, and it also means that you think critically, not be critical. Thinking critically, you would say that Aramis is playing through pain and thus shouldn't be expected to run flat out to 1B on a ground ball to third. His bat is more important that making it a close play, given the risk. Critical thinking tells you that Murton has command of the zone, and thus could be a valuable ML player, and at the very least is the best option in the OF right now when put against Holla and Macias. Critical thinking tells you that it's stupid to call up a guy who's missed 9 weeks with a bad ankle injury just for the sake of it. Critical thinking. Not just criticism. I realize that one makes for better talk radio, but I'm tired of people taking Stone's word for gospel. It's not, and it's seeming more and more obvious that he has a big axe to grind with this organization. Excellent post and very well said. His bitterness isn't hidden by his claims of objectivity.
  7. It was something Bruce Miles either said on this site, or in one of his articles. I don't have the exact quote on me. It was in the "Deal For Adam Dunn soon" thread. Everyone was wetting their pants about a deal of Hill/Mitre/Patterson for Dunn, and Bruce came in and said that there was no such deal, and that Hendry wouldnt even trade Hill straight up for Dunn. Obviously that doesnt mean that the Reds offered us that deal, but if Bruce said it, I'm pretty much obliged to take him at his word that he knows Hendry wouldnt go for it. Then I guess it shows the original quote was made up. The quote was made up, but the fact that Hendry wouldnt trade Hill for Dunn, straight up is true. Based on what? Based on Bruce Miles saying it. I guess you're calling him a liar then. That was Bruce's opinion at the time, just not a fact or a quote from Hendry.

  10. Real great idea, maybe you should buy a ticket and do it.
  11. It was something Bruce Miles either said on this site, or in one of his articles. I don't have the exact quote on me. He ONLY commented about trading prospects, he has never mentioned what he offered the Reds, who said they weren't trading Dunn, Kearns and others, which in fact they didn't.
  12. These fans need to start a riot the likes of Steve Dahl's Disco Demolition night. Just blow the whole thing up! Brilliant idea
  13. That can't actually be true. Surely. It isn't, just another made up quote.
  14. I would love to see them publish his name, he deserves whatever would come to him. Unfortunately, he's not alone in his hatred, he's just the dumb one signing his name. I would hope they turn over the hate mail and death threats to the FBI.
  15. They should fire the jerk, not just suspend him. It is out of control.
  16. Why do you say that?
  17. Sports talk shows are getting out of hand. The personal attacks and the hatred spewed is just getting to be too much. Link
  18. Looks like Hendry will try to pull his annual lightning in a bottle act. http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-kiley06.html Hey, it's one of the 4 non-catchers in the National League worse than Macias this year! Please explain what stats are you referring to.
  19. Seems to me it falls on Hill sucking. Not an untouchable to me either in a trade or for batters.
  20. Excellent. The dislike for certain players grows whether the do anything or not. I know I wouldn't pay to see a team made up of Choi, Hill, Cedeno, Harris, DuBois, Hairston and Kelton, and apparently other major league teams agree.
  21. I would be suprised if he ever makes it back to the big leagues. He's easily fooled by off-speed stuff. if he never makes it back, it's because major league gm's are stupid. minor league numbers matter, even if his first couple hundred major league at bats havent gone as well as one would hope. You forgot the LOL!! If someone really can't hit off speed stuff, why would ANY pitcher throw a fastball to that hitter? That said, I think he'll be back in September and compete for a spot next year. Teams want good prospects to play, just happens that not many want to give O-J-T in the middle of a race. It's not just Dusty.
  22. We acquired him from Boston with a PTBNL for Jimmy Anderson. Thanks, not a bad return for very little.
  23. Anyone remember who we gave up for Shipman? I know he is in a trade to the Cubs.
