  1. Hurray! My cable company finally decided to start showing the game! Dirty buggers...
  2. WGN wants money, CSN has Bulls home Game @ 7. Yeah, well for whatever reason my cable company isn't moving the game over to the local access station until the 5th inning. It's crappy.
  3. Stupid CSN+ Why can't they just leave the games on WGN and CSN?
  4. King Felix scares me. Don't get me wrong, he's perhaps the greatest prospect I've ever seen... and that's even without him throwing that slider yet. But his delivery is just so violent. He is always going to have this black cloud of injury hanging over his head, even if the Mariners do their very best taking care of him (and with their suspect record with pitchers to boot) I couldn't pull the trigger on the proposed trade... but I'd sure want to.
  5. I could certainly go for a "last hurrah" sort of year out of Maddux.
  6. It of course has nothing to do with Prior and Wood battling injuries. nor did Blanco's CERA have anything to do with being Zambrano's personal catcher. Mind you, CERA is nothing more than a junk stat.
  7. Only 2 of those you listed had more Win Shares than Barrett last year. Fine he is great, but shouldn't a big league catcher be a little better at catching the ball? Piazza never was. And when Barrett hits .330 with 40 homers then we can talk. Once he quit doing that he was a hack. For what it's worth, Barrett's EqA so far this season is a higher mark than Piazza ever had for a season, so complaining about his defense when he's hitting like this seems a bit premature, to say the least.

  9. They have his AVG and OBP decreasing, then increasing, then decreasing again? Sorry, but that doesn't make any sense - and is a reason why I put very little stock into these projections for several years down the road. It does make some sense, actually. Besides the fact they aren't major fluctuations, most of this is based off his historic comprables. There were probably a few who did bad one year and dropped out of the league... so they brought the average down for one year and then his comprables kept it up. Yeah, I know it's convoluted. To be completely honest, I don't put a whole lot of faith in the projection either. DLee is certainly a lot more athletic than his counterparts. And the further into the future you try to predict, the harder it becomes.
  10. I think the Cubs signed him for below market value. I'm not debating that they signed him below market value. I'm just saying it's possible the money could have been used more effectively. Then again, possible certainly does not equal probable, especially with this front office. And J-Shill, I got the info from Baseball Prospectus, and it's based off his five year PECOTA projections.
  11. First off, I'd toss out everything before 2000. It was long enough ago he was still just breaking into the league. Secondly, batting average isn't all that useful of a stat in itself. I'd rather have Derrek Lee batting .260 than Juan Pierre batting .290. And lastly, you have to look at the park he was playing in before he came here. Florida is a huge pitcher's park, and Chicago is much more neutral.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy to have Lee around for the next few seasons. I think he's a wonderful player and apparently a good person to have around the clubhouse. 65 million and a no-trade clause is pushing it, though. Assuming 5% salary inflation, he's only predicted to be worth a bit over $45 mil over the next five years. Oh well, it's not my money.
  13. BP's five year forecast. 2006: .298/.384/.570 2007: .288/.375/.543 2008: .292/.380/.542 2009: .280/.365/.512 2010: .282/.366/.508
  14. In one of my leagues we use IP, W, SV, K, ERA, and WHIP. I got a trade proposed to me last night. I'd be giving up BJ Ryan and John Patterson for Francisco Cordero and Tim Hudson. It seems like I'm losing on the closers by a decent margin, but I'm just concerned about Hudson and his slow start right now. Not to mention that Patterson pitches in RFK. I'm leaning towards saying no, but I thought I'd get some input. What do ya think? Hudson's upside is Cy Young, and that might be worth it?
  15. It'll probably be a 2 minute gloss over...it is anytime you get excited to see it :P Then I don't care to see it at all. <_< >_> <_<
  16. Ok, that was a great inning. Just wonderful.
  17. Pierre going deep would make me piss myself.
  18. I'm just checking, everybody remembered to call up any Cardinals fans they know to rub it in, right?
