  1. That's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it, uh huh uh huh.
  2. That scared the hell outta me.
  3. Wow... Looks like our 2B can't hit Carp at all. If Baker really feels the need to put Neifury in the game, this would be the one to do it in, provided he slot in the #8 hole.
  4. I don't like to think about trading pitchers to the Braves. By the way, whatever happened to Andy Pratt?
  5. I don't know. Brazoban kinda choked last year in the closer's role, and Baez isn't exactly a top-tier pitcher. I was under the impression he wasn't supposed to be the backup closer so much as he was supposed to be a full-time setup man.
  6. Just a thought here, but with the recent injury to Gagne, the Dodgers are short one darn good reliever, possibly for the rest of the season. Williamson would seem to be a perfect fit over there. What would it take for you to let the Dodgers pry Williamson away?
  7. I like sitting here watching this game, but I'd almost rather miss the next inning on the drive to the weightroom where I can rip on the Cards fans that inhabit the place.
  8. That's a nice way for Jones to break the .000 OPS.
  9. I hope Maddux gets that pitch the rest of the game.
  10. Neifi'll be starting tomorrow...
  11. Well at least Ronny is doing a good job saving his playing time from Neifury!
  12. I've only got the one bench slot, and Giles is sitting in it. And it's pretty necessary for me to that bench spot going towards outfield use, because I've got Barry Bonds in left field. I'm gonna definately be needing that space to cover for his numerous days off.
  13. I'm in a Yahoo league right now where the stats are R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, and OBP. Don't ask me why that's what they are, but that's it. Right now I've got Miguel Cabrera manning the hot corner for me, but with his multi-positional eligibility I could stick him in the OF. And as it just so happens Zimmerman is hiding at the bottom of the waiver wire. Don't get me wrong, I love Brian Giles. But his doubles power in PETCO isn't going to show up very well. So I guess what I'm wondering is if Zimmerman's limited playing time in the ML so far is still a relatively good approximation of his actual level of play through an entire season. Thoughts?
  14. According to his DT card at BP, Barrett was a thoroughly average first baseman and shortstop in the times he spent at those positions. (6 at first and 2 at short way back in '99) He also comes in at being around 12 runs worse than the average catcher on defense last year, which certainly is a significant margin. Then again, he also was the best hitting catcher in the NL last year by a significant margin. In other words, yeah, he's fairly lousy behind the plate even if he was only 2 or 3 runs worse than average as he was from 02 through 04. But his bat more than makes up for his defense. And besides, you aren't going to find a catcher that's going to have a whole lot of luck throwing out any basestealers with the staff we've got. We've got a bunch of power pitchers with nasty stuff and long, slow deliveries. He couldn't be in a worse situation to showcase his abilities, but you'll be hard pressed to find somebody that can look like a defensive wiz with this staff anyways.
  15. It could have been worth more than an option-less utility guy that sits at the back of their depth chart.
  16. 1. Furcal has more skills than just speed 2. One stupid deal by one stupid team does not shift an entire market for players. I heard a tidbit a few months ago, I think was a secondhand account of something Beane said, that since all the post-Moneyball hubbabaloo, OBP is starting to get valued properly, and speed is now a skill that is undervalued. It doesn't seem to make sense that he would trade a guy like Bynum if he really believed that. Saying speed is undervalued doesn't necessarily mean it's undervalued by everybody. Perhaps the Rangers (and us, by proxy) overvalued it a bit too much and Beane took advantage of it.

    Bonds

As long as they're empty... I can't stand it when people waste good beer.
  18. Yeah, I wish I were less of a diehard Cubs fan, cause I really feel tempted to jump ship right now... they'll be contending for years even if they never get any pitching... :(
  19. This is pretty interesting. Chris Young is the CF of the future, and now Stephen Drew is the man at SS. I don't really see what the master plan is here. Obviously they're going to lose somebody eventually, but I think it'd make more sense to leave Upton at SS in the immediate future as his trade value is higher there. If they end up trading Young later, he'd still have time to adjust to the new position.
  20. Bloody hell. If there's a chance our carrier doesn't provide it, then it probably doesn't. Insight is weak sauce.

    Bonds

When do the Giants come our way again?

 Like an actual syringe with a needle, or what?
