    Don't you understand? Cubs fans have to be miserable about something. Why not a charismatic Redheaded guy that likes to take pitches? I thought Lou called Murton the "adorable redhead."

    Esteban German got hurt mid-game and Grudzy is hurt too. PLEASE START HIM FOR 5 GAMES!!!! Agreed. I've got Carlos Guillen at SS already... but Morgan Ensberg is on the waiver wire. If Gordon gets SS eligibility, I could clean house. Much more likely is that Angel Berroa gets called up.

    For anybody who's interested... It looks like Alex Gordon has moved to short in the Royals game. I don't know what the circumstances are... but it's very interesting.

    are you serious or is this just a manner of speaking? Sure i'm serious. How relaxed is cliff when you have a 8-1 lead as opposed to the 8th inning with a 0-2 deficit. You seriuosly think that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with it? Or to you seriously think baseball players are robots? i assume you're making this claim without much to back it up. Hmm. Just basic psychology. positive attitude breeds positive results. More realistically, perhaps... in games that are out of hand, you are less likely to face the better relievers.

    I'm starting to think I might be what's wrong with the Cubs. I went to the game yesterday and we couldn't hit the ball to save our lives... I go to class today just before the game started, and when I come back we're destroying the Padres.

    I feel for the victims, their families, and the people close to them... However, I also feel strongly that to cancel the games would be the wrong course of action. Give the victims their moment of silence, but don't glorify the outrageous acts taken today by showing the effect they have on the whole country. That only emboldens likeminded individuals.

    vs. RHP LF - Floyd 1B - Lee CF - Soriano 3B - Aramis RF - Jones C - Barrett 2B - Theriot SS - Izturis Pitcher vs. LHP LF - Murton 1B - Lee CF - Soriano 3B - Aramis C - Barrett RF - DeRosa 2B - Theriot SS - Izturis Pitcher That's about as close as we can get to maximizing runs scored while using just the current roster and putting people in roles they'd be likely to be put in. I don't think we'll be seeing DeRosa or Theriot exile Izturis to the bench though... and I'm not convinced Cedeno is a better option with the bat just yet... both players have shown good progress in their approach under Perry.

    Bruce Miles said "Hendry wouldn't deal Hill for Dunn straight up." He was speaking hypothetically, I don't believe this deal was ever even rumored. I recall it that way as well. However, when the original rumor first started, I was in the group verbally berating Hendry for his stubborn refusal to deal Rich Hill. That bring Hendry one closer to me in our ongoing battle... but I still have the righteous Neifi and Rusch outrage.

    It might be that Lou only remembers to spell it "Wuertz" every few attempts, and so he can't call the non-existant "Weurtz" out of the bullpen on the other days.

    Give me a break. Dusty started Murton 122 times in left field last season. That's more than 75% of the time !! Honest question. Do you know how many times he got yanked for a defensive sub or in a double switch?

    I'm going to be at this game... and everybody should be able to spot me. When they show the over-the-shoulder view of right-handers in the batters box, I should be the guy with the goatee in the grey sweatshirt with a cubs logo on the left breast and black sunglasses right over the batter's shoulder.

    I know..How many people on here already have Matt Murton tattoos? I've got four. That's all? I have seven. He's in a different pose for each day of the week.

    While it's nice that Murton is thought of as the better defender, I sure hope his value to the team isn't as a defensive sub.
