    I believe people are suggesting Rich Hill has been better than Z since the middle of last season. There are causes for concern for Z though - his back, his weight, his BBs. Since August 1: Rich Hill: 83.2 IP, 2.47 ERA, 84 K/21 BB, 0.91 WHIP, 11 HR Carlos Zambrano: 78 IP, 4.62 ERA, 68 K/44 BB, 1.47 WHIP, 8 HR Carlos has better stuff and has a much longer and better history but Hill obviously has been much, much better over the last half season. 4:1 strikeout ratios are great. 3:2 not so much.

    Well, it's possible DeRosa will be back, unless there was something I didn't hear tonight. I dunno, he looked like he was in a lot of pain in his lone AB tonight. Yeah, I'm not convinced he's in any shape to play. I'd hope we have the good sense to send Cedeno down for a bit and bring up Scott Moore for the next week or so.

    It's not Soriano's fault Jim Hendry shoved an ill-advised contract for $136 mil under his nose. You or I would sign it just as fast as he did. The problem lies with Jim Hendry and his inability to distinguish an excellent ballplayer from a career year... or indeed, even his inability to distinguish an excellent ballplayer from Juan Pierre or Jacque Jones. Seeing as how it is Jim Hendry's job to put a product in front of the paying fans that they want to see, he would be unable to do so without knowing what the fans want. Booing is simply a conduit for expressing your displeasure with the team or a particular player. It is certainly not the most effective way to express an opinion, but I certainly don't begrudge anyone for it.

    This is just like the Cubs. Come out and get everybody excited... blow it all in miserable fashion... but show just enough promise weasling out of it that the fans are still excited over the prospects of the team.

    Pretty much. The Castro hit seemed like it happened because Izturis was out of position a bit... then the Soriano - Cedeno semi-colision in CF that allowed Moeller to get on. That's about when he seemed to lose it.
