  1. ? blue equates theriot to neifi ;) Only in that he gets to play any position over players who are better than him, and he gets played constantly just because he's the new manager's favorite for whatever reason. I understand that he's in for Aram today, so whatever, but I don't want to see him playing LF or RF ever. We already have 4 outfielders. You will be sorely disappointed then, I'm afraid. Lou seems to have decided Theriot is the best player on his bench, no matter where he plays.
  2. Just so that we all feel better about this lineup, we all need to remember that we have Jacque, Soriano, and Floyd in the outfield... not Bynum, Pierre, and Pagan. Side note: Z smoked that.
  3. Um... This is absolutely correct, but I don't see how it helps Banedon's argument. He said that benching a guy for not running out a popup is fine if it is done early in the season, but maybe a bad idea if done later in the season. If you start factoring in the idea that benching one guy will improve the production rate of several players rather than just one, the value gained from benching Encarnacion increases. Let's put it in terms of team run production rates. Since team production rates get multipled by lots more PAs than individual rates, the amount of games needed to balance out the loss from benching Encarnacion would be smaller. The smaller the number of games needed to balance out the benching, the less sense Banedon's argument makes. I wasn't helping Banedon's argument. I was helping yours.
  4. I don't get it. Victories aren't less important early in the season. So, what's the difference? Maybe that the marginal increase in run production rate exceeds the fixed loss from benching him only when multiplied over a very large number of games? But if the lesson is going to stick with him all season, isn't it reasonable to think it will stick for much longer...for as long as he's under Narron, at least? You cant only assume marginal production from him. This most likely wasn't meant as a message only to him, but all the young players on the team. That's also hoping and praying somebody doesn't hurt themselves making a stupid hustle play.
  5. Honestly, I haven't even bothered to watch the hockey recaps on sportscenter since the lockout... and I don't miss hockey a bit.
  6. I don't have a problem with it so long as it's not more than about a 1 1/2 game benching. They really don't have many good options at third so it's bound to hurt them a bit. Though they might be okay if Freel played there for a couple days and Hamilton filled in at center.
  7. I should be in the opposite situation. I was destroying my opponent in all the rate stats, but for some reason it wouldn't count my starts by Rich Hill, Jake Peavy, and Anthony Reyes... so I ended up getting beaten in IP, W, and K when adding it up manually shows I should have won those three by a wide margin. Then again, there was an error with my particular league and so I still can't get in.
  8. Well, if really enjoy on pace stats at this point in the season, A-Rod is on pace to hit 121 HR for an 81-81 Yankees, and Felix Hernandez is on pace for a 0.00 ERA and 297 Strikeouts for a 97-65 Mariners team. I agree. I always love looking at pace stats early in the year. Another one, the Washington Nationals are on pace to go 18-144 this year. That one actually might not surprise me. Though I imagine Patterson would pick up the next 17 wins. The rest of that pitching staff aside from him and Cordero might be the worst I've ever seen.
  9. Come on now. Santana has obliterated the league for three years running. You think that the torch is passed after two starts? As great as he is, he's got a long way to go. Consistency is everything. And don't get me wrong: I recognize this kid's potential... but... Also: he will have the arm troubles of Kerry Wood if they continue to tax his 21-year-old arm with 100 pitches every fifth day... That probably wont be the case. Felix is pretty sound on his mechanics, and Kerry Wood is probably one of the worst at repeating his mechanics. King Felix may repeat his mechanics, but the way he falls off towards first isn't a good omen.
  10. On the plus side of things, Gooz has looked a lot more like his old self so far this season than he did in his time last season. Considering we wont be moving Z, Hill, Lilly, or Marquis out of the rotation anyway, either Gooz or Prior was going to be wasted most of the season. At least know we know Gooz only has one semi-hurdle to clear now in Wade Miller.
  11. Not much point in doing anything with him until Jones is traded.
  12. I'm pretty sure you'll still get credit for it, assuming he was on your opening day roster. From what I understand, they are just similuating from opening day through tonight using everybody's opening day lineups in order to fix the scoring errors.
  13. I always liked America. Really? I was born in 1984. and you're not even close to the youngest poster here Of those that know America?
  14. Curtis Granderson probably should be ranked above him as well, one unfortunate slip notwithstanding.
  15. I always liked America. Really? I was born in 1984.
  16. Bill Hall has SS and CF eligibility in most leagues. There's no good reason to drop him. Gonzalez and Fielder are about even. Fielder will probably give you a bit more power, Gonzalez a bit more average. That one depends on who you've already got on your team.
  17. Oh, I've been through the desert on a horse with no name...
  18. At least it looks like they're bringing in Putz. He's the closer for my fantasy team.
  19. What do we care about Felix or the Mariners though. You can't bring yourself to feel good for great young pitchers that haven't had to deal with Dusty?
  20. Yeah, thanks guys.
  21. Unless this is some sort of fancy reverse-jinx, you all have no right to call yourself Cubs fans. Where is your respect for superstition?
  22. I hate you all.
  23. You're lucky we aren't on the playground right now, cause we'd have to scuffle behind the bleachers at recess.
  24. Everybody stop freaking talking about it!
  25. Why did you have to do that to my fantasy team? That's what i'm here for. You are an evil, evil man.
