How could something that severe have eluded all of the various non-surgical examinations and imaging he's already had? It's not like up until now he's only been seen by guys that stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Great point. If there was significant tissue damage, its highly unlikely it would have evaded all of the advanced diagnostic procedures that were completed. I am betting they discovered some typical irriatation, and they cleaned it up and that was it. There was some fraying of the labrum too. They're looking at him to begin throwing in January. So basically when I was ripped in a previous thread when I said that he had what Kerry Wood had in 2005, my critics were wrong. I'll repeat what I said then. Since he has better mechanics than Wood, he should be more than serviceable again. Matt Morris had the same thing. The question is whether the Cubs control him through 2008 or 2009. Heck, they might non-tender him this winter and his Cub career is over. Just curious...Why wasn't this done last year? Non-tendering him or the surgery? -

Re-read the posts, and you'll see nobody was making their jokes about your aunt and couldn't have known since it wasn't mentioned then. I'm sorry for her illness, but please don't accuse us of something we clearly didn't do. Leave him alone. His aunt is sick.

This is based on how many games with the wind blowing in Wrigley? Oh, it has nothing to do with his actual fielding. I wanted to put him back at second anyway to get our best bats in the lineup. I was just using one play to make my point. Oh, that works. You can say a lot about me, but you certainly can't fault me for my honesty. :wink:

especially since he was the "payoff" for an asset with some value Yeah, that was definitely part of the equation. Its funny that literally getting nothing for Maddux would have been so much better. Well, I know this only makes it slightly better-but at least if Izturis hadn't been traded for, Neifi probably wouldn't have been traded (because he would have been the starting second baseman at the time) and then Theriot would not have been on this team at all, because he wouldn't have gotten the time he did when Neifi was traded and then Izturis got hurt. So you're saying Hendry's ignorance kept his stupidity from operating at full-capacity?

Soriano isn't looking like a GG LFer either. I say we just suck up the crappy defense and put him back at second.

In other news, Hafner went deep just a couple minutes ago. I think that's 7 or 8 straight times he's reached base.
