  1. Somebody with a DVR, was the blonde behind Duffy when they show over-the-shoulder hot?
  2. Ugh... those Pirates alt jerseys are horrid.
  3. Changed to reflect my sentiments. I walked out to my car earlier to go buy some cigarettes. I got out there, decided to give quitting another try, and came back inside. Let's see if the Cubs can keep me from regretting that decision before six hours pass.
  4. Why? If he reverts to anything near his career form versus righties he's the ideal #2 hitter.
  5. Any lineup that includes Izturis is a bad lineup if you ask me. What about... CF Beltran C Mauer 1B Pujols DH Hafner 3B ARod LF Manny RF Vlad 2B Utley SS Izturis ?
  6. Lineups according to Gameday LF Soriano RF Floyd 1B Lee 3B Ramirez C Barrett CF Jones 2B DeRosa SS Izturis P Lilly CF Duffy SS Wilson 2B Sanchez LF Bay RF Doumit 3B Bautista 1B LaRoche C Paulino P Armas
  7. It's gotta happen sometime doesn't it? I sure hope so.

    Waiver Bait

Standard h2h league, with IP and OBP added. There are a couple really interesting options sitting on the waiver wire right now. I have Alex Gordon at third and Dan Uggla at 2B... Morgan Ensberg (3B) and BJ Upton (2B, 3B) are both sitting on the waiver wire for anybody who's interested. Gordon's starting off real slow, and I've never been a believer in Uggla. Is either one of those guys a real upgrade though?

  10. I've seen most of the relevant science, and my father works closely with the issue. While I do think liberals abuse this as a hot-button issue, it is nevertheless an issue. The human impact of global warming is almost insignificant, especially compared to changes in orbital rotation. However, it is better to be safe than sorry in the long run. Making new products more eco-friendly would be wonderful, but forcing old products to meet new emissions standards would be counter-productive by merely making energy less affordable.
  11. I'd say it depends on whether you feel that you're in position to compete this year. Soriano and Carp would be definate keepers for next year, and you don't have a whole lot of people worthy of that. For this year though, the trade looks good. Giambi is an upgrade over Nomar, Upton is an upgrade over Uggla, and Nathan will slide in nicely to replace Bob Wickman now that he's hitting the DL. Zito's not a bad starter either. And I'm not sold on Carp coming back strong this season... so really it's a question of whether the downgrade from Soriano to Moises or Hamilton is worth all the upgrades elsewhere. It probably is.
  12. I dunno, once Ronny came up last year it became evident he couldn't hit any breaking balls from southpaws... hitting them to a line of .230/.250/.303 last year in 160 PA. But if we want to argue small sample sizes like the one he's got against Duke, I could just as easily bust out that Ronny is hitless in 10 AB vs. LHP this year. It's a pretty blatant lack of ability against lefties, and I'm sure the pirates have figured it out.
  13. I nearly got in an accident last sunday coming back from the Cubs game on Lake Shore. I was driving in the lane on the right of the fast lane when a guy in a SUV flew up past me on my right, slowed down, and then tried to merge into my lane quickly without signaling when his rear tires were right next to my sister in the passenger seat. There was a truck right up behind me and no time to speed up. Thankfully, I had been keeping an eye on the road around me and knew I could make it into the fast lane. My passengers were jarred a bit when I had to swerve over there, but at least they weren't crushed by the renegade SUV. I'm just happy there was nobody in that fast lane... cause I might not be here today if there was.
  14. 409 with an 80 ESPN Ramon Ortiz is killing me right now with his hot start... but its more than balanced out by McCarthy. What's really hurting is the lack of plate appearances for Scotty Pods and Chone Figgins.
  15. Pie, Jones, and Murton all will produce about the same amount of offensive value given a full season of plate appearances. Floyd is a better hitter, but has some injury concerns. Pie and Murton are under club control for a while longer... and given the difference between Jones and Floyd with their comprable contracts, it's better to be rid of Jones.
  16. I offered a guy in my league Kelly Johnson, Carlos Guillen, and Gary Sheffield for Dan Uggla and Lance Berkman about a week ago. He declined it. Yesterday, I got the same offer from him, but he dropped Guillen out of the mix. He actually lowered his price past what I had offered him inside of a week, and now my offense sports Pujols, Hafner, Berkman, and Dunn.
  17. You've never taken your eyes off the road to pick out the next song on your ipod, or to look through your phone book to make a call?
  18. Goodness... It's a shame, really. At least juding from the photos of his car, it was probably quite quick.
  19. Dempster up to 25 pitches. He has to be feeling it now.
