  1. 88 over 600 AB's Not too shabby. I'm really starting to get behind the idea of Lee batting leadoff. That'll happen. I'm not saying it will. But he's making me seem awfully prescient.

  3. Anybody know offhand how many walks Lee is on pace for this season?
  4. This is based on how many games with the wind blowing in Wrigley? Oh, it has nothing to do with his actual fielding. I wanted to put him back at second anyway to get our best bats in the lineup. I was just using one play to make my point. Oh, that works. You can say a lot about me, but you certainly can't fault me for my honesty.
  5. especially since he was the "payoff" for an asset with some value Yeah, that was definitely part of the equation. Its funny that literally getting nothing for Maddux would have been so much better. Well, I know this only makes it slightly better-but at least if Izturis hadn't been traded for, Neifi probably wouldn't have been traded (because he would have been the starting second baseman at the time) and then Theriot would not have been on this team at all, because he wouldn't have gotten the time he did when Neifi was traded and then Izturis got hurt. So you're saying Hendry's ignorance kept his stupidity from operating at full-capacity?

  7. Soriano isn't looking like a GG LFer either. I say we just suck up the crappy defense and put him back at second.
  8. In other news, Hafner went deep just a couple minutes ago. I think that's 7 or 8 straight times he's reached base.
  9. DeRosa walks. Bases juiced for Izzy with one down.
  10. "We're not gonna take your organs now. We'll take them later."
  11. Jesse White is seriously creeping me out.
  12. White is talking about organ donation... Some kid in downstate Illinois who needs a kidney is counting on a suicidal Cubs fan paying attention right about now.
  13. Jesse White always throws me off for some reason...
  14. Even Len knows well enough that the season isn't over cause of a fluke bad start in close games. It'd be real nice if Cubs fans could figure that out. Rich Hill is a raging badass, by the way.
  15. What are the odds that we are the first team in history to not win a single game when the run differential is two or less? Almost negligible. We will start to win some of those games, of that I am sure. More than anything else, I'm impressed that we're playing such a high percentage of our games either in that level or by going ahead three or more runs. Bad teams aren't more likely to lose one or two run games than they are to get blown out... and the Cubs aren't getting blown out. This is bad luck, that's all. People just need to relax.
  16. It's pretty hard to hide them when your ace only goes 5.1 innings. zambrano, eyre, howry and soriano are the people most deserving of blame for this mess. izturis and miller are both complete disasters, but everyone knew that was going to happen. To be fair, a lot of us were none too enthused over the prospect of paying good money for Howry. And a lot of us were curled up in the fetal position sucking our thumbs when we found out what we were paying for that chump Eyre. Just think... if we weren't paying the contracts for Eyre, Howry, and Dempster, we could have afforded to trade for Abreu last year when the Phillies would give him to anybody with a couple warm bodies who didn't want them to pick up the contract. If I were the GM, I'd never pay more than about 2 mil to any reliever... if that even.

  19. I'd settle for a quick and/or painless death.
  20. Remember when I said in the 9th that using Theriot to pinch hit then was a dumb idea? This is why.
  21. Unless I'm mistaken, the only southpaws with 300 wins are Steve Carlton, Warren Spahn, Eddie Plank, and Lefty Grove. And I don't think any of them played for us.
