    He is up to 89 pitches though... Probably one more inning and then we make it into the bullpen. At which point we spend more time watching relievers make their warm up tosses than them actually pitching.

    Are you serious??? Dude, didn't I show you earlier that Cedeno was a much worse SS in the minors than Theriot was? I've seen Cedeno make that play a few times this year-that kind of ball is when he usually does his little spin move. Ok yah, I agree Cedeno has more range, but Theriot's defense isn't nearly the liability people are making it out to be. Maybe not, but that's 3 plays already tonight where a SS with more range makes plays. Theriot needs to improve upon that if he intends to stick there. That's three plays where SS with more range might make plays.

    He was just a complete nitwit in the field. My all-time favorite dumb Alou moment was when he tried to kick the ball into the ivy and pretended he couldn't find it. That was definately a classic.

    I'm all for this tradeoff until Cedeno shows he can hit major league pitching. Izzy should just get tarred and feathered already.

    Soriano must swing and miss more than anybody in the league.

    I'm reading The Baseball Economist right now, and according to Bradbury's research, players are likely to perform worse when "protected" by better hitters behind them. Something like the pitcher putting in max effort to avoid having a better batter come up with a runner on. Something to chew on. If it's true, moving Pie into a "protected" spot is more likely to stunt his development.

    um why? DFA Izturis and get someone useful on the bench. Fontenot can at least get on base. There is no reason for Izturis to be on this team when Ronny can be just as bad for so much less. Even if you sink the cost of Izturis, you are helping the team by removing him from the roster. You're probably right, I just don't have the energy to fight that battle. Getting a young kid with the potential to do better actually in the starting lineup has temporarily satisfied my appetite. Way to strive for mediocrity newbie. I'm just hoping they contend within the division. Back to back to back .500 seasons would be great. contending within the division is like cold emotionless sex. But it's still sex... A quote by Lewis Kiniski (Ryan Stiles) on the Drew Carey Show about sex... "One person's always disappointed. So far, I've been lucky; it's always been the woman."

    I wouldn't mind installing Bill Murray as the permanent singer, actually. Hell, I'd love to add him to the booth.

    I have a team in each division I'll root for providing they aren't impacting the Cubs negatively. DBacks, Phillies, A's, Indians, and Blue Jays.

    Only let former Cubs sing it. Ron doing it most of the time. Exceptions made for when a guest isn't available and Ron isn't at the game... then Len and Bob can lead it.

    He had some ridiculous range at short last year. I want to say a study showed he made more plays outside the normal zone than anyone else not named Everett last year... he just wasn't as effective inside it. Consistency is really his only problem... which is hardly surprising considering the way the Brewers have jerked him around all over the diamond.
