  1. -23 from my pitching staff today. Solid. Today was a big day and down 40 points it's not looking good.
  2. One start I was counting on and John Maine gives up EBH's to half the guys in the Reds lineup!

  4. Interesting playoff scenarios developing in the East. If the scores this week hold: Sanitizers 14-7 Budcrew 12-9 Buddiga 12-9 Bashers 11-10 Sanitizers will clinch a playoff spot. Buddiga and Budcrew tied in the standings, head to head, and division record. That means, if both Buddiga and Budcrew win or lose next week, Budcrew will take it on the 4th tie-braker (total points). Buddiga must win and Budcrew must lose for Buddiga to make the playoffs under this scenario. However, if Sanitizers can't hold on this week, that makes things weird: Sanitzers 13-8 Budcrew 12-9 Buddiga 12-9 Bashers 11-10 Sanitzers and Buddiga play each other next week. If Buddiga wins, they would hold the head-to-head against Sanitizers. If Budcrew also wins, they hold the head-to-head against Sanitzers. Thus, Sanitzers miss the playoffs. Should be fun!
  5. CG SO (49 pts) by Harang for the Budcrew. The Pirates are worthless. That's the difference right now and Dontrelle was terrible.
  6. One further comment on last night's game. 3-1, 2 on, 0 out, 7th inning. Jones is hitting the ball well. The moment he got to the plate, I was hoping Lou wouldn't ask him to sacrifice. Maybe I am just conditioned to this after years of Baylor and Baker. Lou plays the game to win. He put it in Jones hands and he came through. Even if Jones fails there, it is the right move to let him swing away. In the past, how likely is it that Baylor and/or Baker have Jones bunting there ?
  7. I don't recall it ever happening. Probably will be trash on the field, fans running onto the field, some hat stealing, and maybe a meteor will land in left field.
  8. Before the Monroe deal, I was hoping it would be the pride of New Brunswick: Professional Hitter And, I still hope the Cubs go get him now that the Jays are 10 gb...
  9. The East could get very interesting. Assuming the scores hold, the standings will be (with 2 weeks to go): Budcrew, 12-8 Buddiga, 11-9 Bashers, 11-9 Budcrew-Buddiga is next week. The Bashers have a very tough game against the Dawgs, though the Bashers look to be on their way to 6 straight weeks with a win. I think this has been the most competitive year for Roadkill, particularly in the East maybe 6 teams at or above .500 after this week.
  10. AVG .222 | HR 11 | RBI 55 | OBP .264 | SLG .373 Don't understand the trade or what value he brings beside being better than Fox at this point. He has some power. He's had decent slugging in the past. We need some HR power. Hendry's latest attempt to re-create the 2003 magic that was Randall Simon...
  11. The Rangers only scored in 4 innings of the game. 5, 9, 10, 6. Paul Shuey gave up 9 in 1 and 1/3 to close it out and save the O's bullpen for the 2nd game.
  12. Isn't it always Miller and Morgan on Sunday Nights? Yes. Unfortunately. I wish Morgan and Baker did a Cubs game together. On one hand, that sounds like pure entertainment. But by the end of the game, I'd probably drive a railroad spike through my forehead...
  13. Recall, the Cubs took a shot at him in 2004 in the 19th round. I give them credit for at least trying. It took three times through the draft for him to finally play professionally. He's a natural. He posted a 3.14 ERA (190 innings) and hit .377 (61 AB) in the minors. I think Arizona will continue to let him pitch for a couple more seasons and see if he can climb his way up the rotation. Otherwise, they should seriously consider finding him time in LF.
  14. Indeed. Those HR's are killers for a pitcher. Good battle this week with it still close today. Maybe I shouldn't let Willis start ...
  15. This is like Neifi vs. Macias. Ugh.
  16. Big Red is 9-25 with 3 extra-base hits since his recall. His bat is needed at the level of his 2nd half performance last year.
  17. My hero times two. Buddiga is having a rough week so far, but it is Wednesday in the US and the Raw Dawgs have -9 for the week following Gallardo's -39.75 performance. !
  18. How sweet would it be to have Wood give a stellar relief performance to put me over the top. :D Interesting. The only way I can win is for Dempster to get tagged today. I am down 10 with only Dempster remaining for my opponent.
  19. I think it is. Garland had a -33 when my team played Tim's.
  20. Izturis would also be batting 2nd. Mark DeRosa would spend too much time on the bench. Give up lineups on get-away-day. Zambrano going deep into 9-0 games. Sacrifice bunts. Double switches at every opportunity, even if they don't make sense.
  21. Any prolonged stretch of .600 baseball would be more than acceptable. 12-8 would leave them at 63-54, or a .538 W%, good for a pace of 87 wins. That would also leave them with 45 more games to reach the 90 win plateau, which would mean going 27-18 the rest of the way, also a .600 W%. considering the "easy" games in this stretch are on the road and the "hard" games are at home, I stand by 12-8. Not knowing the pitching matchups makes it hard to guess though This weekend proved pitching matchups mean nothing. Cubs beat Brandon Webb with Jason Marquis, then lost vs. Owings and Petit when their SP gave up a combined 2 ERs in 12 innings. I wouldn't go that far. If Kip Wells and the Cardinals go out and beat Zambrano and the Cubs tomorrow...
  22. Prediction: 1/3 - Cards 2/3 - Reds 2/4 - Phillies 2/3 - Mets 2/3 - Houston 2/4 - Rockies 11-9 over this stretch. I think the Brewers go 9-11 as they aren't the same club on the road.
