If he wanted Girardi, the deal would be done. There seems to be a romantic notion that Girardi will hold out hoping for the Cubs job. If he does, he won't be managing. If Girardi gets an offer from the Nationals and he wants to manage, he should take it, because the phone isn't going to be ringing with a Cubs offer. Girardi wasn't my guy, either, though I wouldn't be outraged if he had ended up with the job. This quote, though ... infuriates me ... Good for Hendry that he has such close ties to Florida management. I guess he'll always have a job in baseball, and at least he had a team to root for after Game 6 in '03. I don't mind him choosing his guy. I do mind him having his Florida compadres tell him that he shouldn't hire the guy they fired after they hired a guy he was kinda sorta thinking about hiring. What are we to think? He can't do his job without someone telling him what to do? He's like a submissive looking for just the right dominatrix. No amount of talking is going to change his perspective (yeah, that's just Rozner's take). Is Rozner's take reality?
