  1. wow. i thought we had stopped calling players "bums" when farnsworth was traded? or was that headcase? It was gutless choking dog. with no penis. I don't think anyone ever alleged that was a problem with Farnsworth...
  2. One percent? That's kinda silly unless Carroll has amazingly good sources. We're not even into the offseason. Will Carroll on injuries = very very good Will Carroll on transactions = very very bad Meh, you beat me to it. Well said. QFT. Doesn't rule out his view on Schmidt (I'd be astonished if he signed a one-year deal unless it was for a GAZILLION dollars).
  3. I know how troubled you were. So you'll be pleased to know that Lou apologized for the midget comment.
  4. BTW, the updated article reveals that O'Neal also got a 2-year extension.
  5. did he come on yet? because I started listening around 8:00pm Hendry was on right at the beginning. You can download or listen to his interview here, it's the hendry_10172006.mp3 file. It's about 11.5 minutes long. Piniella was actually on his way to meet Hendry for dinner and was 'stuck in traffic.' He's now supposed to be on tomorrow night.
  6. No problem. We usually post announcements in the busiest forums when new interviews are posted. We have some good ones that will be available soon -- Bruce Miles, Len Kasper, and a roundtable we did with Sean Gallagher & Chris Walker in West Tennesee.

Playing in Peoria Peoria Chiefs Metallica Jersey size 44 #2 Game-worn and auto'd by Joe Simokaitis, LOA from IL MDA (Serena) (includes auto'd snapshot of Simokaitis) --This jersey was gameworn and the lower front is covered with dirt from a Simokaitis stolen base. (I've cleaned a similar jersey by brushing/beating out the dirt, then using the DIY dryer dry-cleaning bags). The jersey is dark black with reflective material to match the silver metallica patches. 9. I have to admit I didn't try too hard to prevent intentional misspellings. :)
  10. Sorry ... it was driving me BONKERS! :gack:
  11. 12. Jim Hendry has decided he likes fast slap-hitting midgets that catch the ball. Do they all get along, though? Yes. They will all ride to field in the same car. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/tovalondner/midgets.jpg I didn't realize they all had to be partially bald midgets.
  13. I recorded the interview from WGN radio. It's available for downloading or listening here: http://www.4shared.com/dir/977989/c80d2d05/sharing.html The file is 101706_piniella_press_conf.mp3. Unfortunately, WGN Radio didn't carry the full press conference and cut away about 13 minutes into it. The audio recording begins as Hendry is finishing up his brief intro remarks. Piniella will be on WGN Radio Sports Central tonight. The show runs from 7-9pm; they didn't give a specific time.
  14. I hate this emoticon, but  He was asked about whether his players would hustle. He seemed to think it was a silly question.
  15. Hard to hear questions ... "No concerns -- the resources will be there and it's up to me and the coaching staff to get it done." "I was considered at other places, but this is where I wanted to come. The Cubs are in the city, it's a wonderful city and a great sports town." Was it understood you'd have a lot of input getting players you want? "I'm a team player, when you look at a sports franchise, they have to work together from the top to the bottom to get things done. I'm just a small cog in this. We're all going to work together to get it done." "That's not true -- I never once talked to the Yankees about anything, and I never even really paid much attention to it. The guy they have over there, Joe Torre, is very accomplished and I'd like to have the same success here as he's had there." "You win with talent, obviously, but you also win with that talent playing together as a team. You've got a nice nucleus of players here; you've obviously got to add a few." Would like to emulate Detroit, south side. "I speak Spanish, it was my first language. I learned to speak English with the nuns in grammar school." Hasn't discussed ARod -- doesn't know where that came from -- obviously want to get very good players. "Day games should be an advantage for you here at Wrigley." Going to focus on having a good bench.
  16. "urgency is important" "First order is to hire a really good coaching staff who can teach. I'm a delegator, so I need a good coaching staff who can do their jobs." His kids want to fly up and go to Wrigley Field. Convinced the front office wants to win. Long-suffering Cubs fans should know "we're going to win here, end of story."
  17. Please refer to the sticky thread in Transactions!
  18. WGN TV will be carrying the press conference (first post will be updated). http://wgntv.trb.com/
  19. There's a sticky thread in the Transactions Forum with all the streaming information. We'll be closing this thread and moving the discussion there once the press conference kicks off.
  20. The Cubs press conference to introduce Lou Piniella as the new manager will be held today at noon CT. Please post discussion & reactions here! UPDATE: I recorded the interview from WGN radio. -------------------------------------------------------- WGN Radio, ESPN 1000 and The Score have all said they will be carrying the press conference live. Here's the info for listening in: WGN Radio AM 720 (click listen live in top LH corner) ESPN Radio Chicago AM 1000 (click 'listen live' tab) The Score AM 670 (click big orange Listen Live) This will be televised on Comcast SportsNet Chicago: http://chicago.comcastsportsnet.com/view_content_0p.asp?ID=38626 WGN TV You should be able to stream it live through the Cubs.com website. ESPNews has it listed as a program alert. --
  21. No out clause, according to Bruce.
  22. I refreshed too late!!! But I finally saw it! Have to admit: any tirade involving the word "ass" usually cracks me up.
  23. Holy cow. Hilarious. I'd feel bad for him if they weren't playing the Bears. I could never bring myself to feel sorry for Denny Green. He is the southern end of a northbound horse !! ARGH! I missed the meltdown while watching a long rambling Hester interview about the punt return!
  24. ESPN: in the history of the game, no player has as many carries with as few yards as EJames: 36 carries, 55 yards
