  1. As much as I enjoyed his hard hit ball to the outfield last night, I'm more convinced he'd hit into some ground ball double plays, so he's out of the line up in those conditions. Besides, Zobrist has to play RF to get Schwarber into LF.
  2. You still have to be able to move laterally though. I'd love for him to be able to play, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Shhh. I'm trying to get him in the line up and here you are all negative Nancy.
  3. Wouldn't it be pretty easy to play the field Friday night in 40 MPH winds? Let Schwarber set up shop a few feet short of the warning track and then you only have to run forward for balls.
  4. Hasn't it always been assumed that Chapman would go back to NY after this season? I'd rather see them go a bit cheaper at closer for now since there are a lot of guys looking at raises and long term contracts. Maybe groom Edwards or Strop to take over for Rondon if he can't handle it anymore. If they can afford Jansen and lure him away from LA, great. But I don't see it happening.
  5. My grandfather. He served in WWII raised 6 kids (one with cerebral palsy) during the worst economic times this country has ever seen and he worked his ass off to provide for my dad and his brothers and sisters. He couldn't tell you if the Cubs were a baseball team or a basketball team back in those days, which was also the last time the Cubs were in a World Series. In his retirement as a truck driver, he found that the Cubs were about the only worthy daytime tv worth watching. It wasn't until retirement that he finally did something for himself and got a basic cable tv package with WGN. Having them playing during the day with Harry and Steve broadcasting into his living room turned him into a huge Cub fan. I wish he was able to be here to watch this happen. I doubt he'd be able to stay up watching these late games live. A few of my family members are Cardinal fans since we grew up between Chicago and St. Louis, but all should be Cub fans, because that's what Grandpa was.
  6. It's good to see so many new posters. Glad this thread got started.
  7. Watching Schwarber makes me wonder just how good the Cubs team would have been this year if he was healthy all year and Heyward played somewhere near to the level he played even last year. Maybe some bad things happen like not bringing up Contreras, but they are definitely going to have some interesting decisions in the offseason. But who wants to dwell on that crap now, there is a World Series to be won with the most exciting team in baseball.
  8. Comfortably back in my hotel room and ready for a dong show. And I feel dirty typing that. Go Cubs!
  9. This is amazing news. Now I'm really anxious for a lineup.
  10. I just have to get through my last night in Tahoe on Tuesday night, then I can be home watching the rest of the games from the comforts of HOME. This travel has made it hard for me to enjoy this the way I really wanted. But the wife is busy recording anything and everything Cubs World Series related. The hotel bar at Hyatt Regency in Incline Village is perfect for my situation, however. I watched all of the football games yesterday there and finally got to get my drink on in what was basically a late celebration of Saturday night's game.
  11. I would like a lead off double please!
  12. That's a center fielder for ya, calling everyone/no one off on a fly ball by the right field line.
  13. My dogs hate Chicago Cubs baseball. Normally this time of year, all is quiet. I apologize in advance, girls!
  14. That national anthem was a grand slam. Cubs 4 Dodgers 0
  15. That game was legendary. We are beating Kershaw on Saturday.
  16. Good thing the countdown clock for mound visits is keeping play moving.
