  1. That was a pretty impressive comeback, for the second time.
  2. Well, I watched that entire train wreck of a game, and I'm sad. It's going to be a long season. At least I don't have to make sure I have a clean Bears jersey to wear each Sunday. I'm too embarrassed to be seen in one at this point.
  3. Today would be a great day for a rebound from Mr. Hammel.
  4. Downloaded the Tunity App to my phone. I liked it. It picks up the sound for any game showing on a tv near you. It's great for Sunday Ticket locations showing games, but not sound. With regular ear buds, I found I was able to hear the action while still carrying on conversations with those around me. There was a delay during the Bears game, but I have tried other events where it was in real time. It's a free download.
  5. What was Wests problem? He wouldn't let Montero visit the mound? I didn't have sound.
  6. He got ejected in the game I attended on July 5
  7. Wow! Great story! Most of us can only imagine what it would have been like to know Fred in person. You got to experience it firsthand, and he was even more charming through your words. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Such sad news. I would have loved to catch a game with Fred. Absolutely my favorite poster on this board even though I'm not much into hanging out in game threads. I'm more about reading the threads after the games. I remember tossing many "old" jabs at Fred over the years in those game threads, and now I'm probably getting close to being one of the oldest posters here. My sincere condolences to CubmanPi, along with all other friends and family of Fred. He will be dearly missed.
  9. I kinda figured Maddon would just let Hammel destroy his own ERA when it was clear he had nothing last night after the way he behaved like a spoiled child when he got pulled in the 3rd inning two starts before this one.
  10. I'm going to stay on the optimistic side of this Bears roster. I'm a bit disappointed they didn't look to improve the TE position more this offseason, as I have the same concerns Raw has about Miller's ability to stay healthy. Losing McPhee for nearly half the season hurts. A bad season probably means we get one of the best OT's on the board in next year's draft. But, I remain hopeful they can gel well enough to keep a lot of games close, as I do love Bears football.
  11. I didn't tune into this one until the 10th inning, but that was simply amazing baseball.
  12. Spanos is the absolute worst. Absolutely hilarious and maddening with what he's trying to pull off regarding a stadium deal. Maddening that anyone is dumb enough to fall for it, and hilarious because his plan is going to fail miserably. He's burned all of his bridges and the only real way he can save face is to just build a new stadium where the old one sits on his own dime, which is what EVERYONE but Spanos wanted in the first place. He bought this team for pennies on the dollar and he treats the team like he's losing money. He's a billionaire and wants the fans to pay for the stadium to be built, and then pay to go see the team play. Dumbass. Well, not dumb if you can pull it off. Meanwhile, fans are so turned off, many have already burned their Charger jerseys. This Bosa contract dispute is just another in a long line of Charger holdouts and further clarifying Spanos' lack of integrity.
  13. I admit that I was glad Cahill gave up a run to set up the save opp. I wanted to see what 104 MPH looked like in person. Amazing!
  14. Squeezed in the time to go to this one. My ugly mug will be on your tv screen every time a lefty comes up to bat. Don't say I didn't warn you! The sea of Cub fans at this game should be pretty cool to be a part of.
  15. What I would love is for Joe to announce in the media that he's not designating a closer, we have several awesome relievers at the back end and he wants them all available in big spots depending on situation. Probably a pipe dream but that would be cool. Not having that extension might prevent that, also. If they want an extension, they will probably need to feed Chapman's ego and give him all of the saves. Or if they can work out an extension when he gets into town, then maybe Maddon will be able to use the bullpen the way he truly wants to.
  16. If Seattle falls any further out of the wild card race in the next week, several of the players you mentioned could end up on other teams, which opens the door for Vogelbach. With yesterday's trade, Seattle may already be preparing to miss the playoffs.
  17. Made it to my seats. Great day for a game. Go Cubs! It's been way too long for a game at Wrigley.
  18. So that's what they call it now?
  19. What the hell kinda [expletive] is this?
  20. I was cracking up at how much he was enjoying all the attention when he was coming up for his AB. He was digging the hell out of that Pharoahe Monch. Seemed like the Pirates were trying to ice him a little bit. Obviously, the pitcher had no book on him to speak of, so the mound visit made sense. But then after the mound visit was two throws to first base, which would have had my anxiety level in anticipation of that first pitch even more nerve wracking. It might have been a better idea of throwing one outside of the strike zone on that first pitch, because after that long wait, Willson was clearly ready to swing the bat. And that he did.
  21. I don't pay any attention to bullpen sessions. Does Lester only work with Ross on off day throwing sessions? He's going to be need to be weened off of Ross by the time spring training rolls around, and with Montero not really all that long for Chicago given his contract status, Contreras seems like the best candidate for Lester to get dialed in with if he wants to continue having a personal catcher once Ross is gone.
  22. THIS was your post in the middle of Contreras exploding into our lives? Right!?
  23.
  24. I'm pretty sure a bunch of people will take you up on that bet.
