  1. I'm not convinced Hawpe is available. I'm not even sure why he would be.
  2. They are so far ahead of everyone on hot stove news. Amazing.
  3. I think Lugo's price will come down. I think the Red Sox will end up getting someone to play 2nd and Pedroia will play SS. I'm going to guess Marcus Giles goes to Boston.
  4. My best guess is Hendry is currently riding the merry-go-round with Daffy and Goofy. The mental image I just got is priceless. I smiling Hendry in one of those dumbo cars. Say, didn't you once save Mickey Mouse in somebody's dream. Why, yes, I believe I did. And, I'd probably do it again!
  5. My best guess is Hendry is currently riding the merry-go-round with Daffy and Goofy. Neifi Perez and Jose Macias are at the Winter Meetings? Uh, GM's drink coffee, too. It's not just for managers anymore.
  6. My best guess is Hendry is currently riding the merry-go-round with Daffy and Goofy.
  7. We are all in utter bewilderment that Hendry sees Izturis as something more than a 25th man at the end of the bench, meanwhile a far superior player in just about every way imagineable will sign elsewhere because Hendry would rather play the guy completely out of position. What is Hendry's deal this offseason regarding the offense, anyway? 1) Wants a lefty bat and is willing to deal Jones to get one. 2) Signs Soriano and really has no idea where he wants to put him. 3) Signs veteran utility player DeRosa to be his everyday 2b. 4) Wants Lugo to play CF. Why would Lugo want to play CF when he is being offered SS jobs? How about offering Lugo the SS job, then switch him to CF after he signs if you MUST play Izturis? That experiment probably wouldn't last long anyway when it is confirmed Neifi is actually better than Izturis. 5) Still views Murton as a platoon player when he has absolutely no one to platoon him with. Okay, off my rant. The summary I have come to with all the above is that Jason Schmidt MUST be signed immediately. :D
  8. Athletic ability= umlimited potential IQ= not so much He might want to remember what has gotten him this far in the game, and then realize what appears to be now holding him back. Just shut up and play.
  9. This opt out stuff is getting out of control. Why on Earth are GM's offering them up? And why on Earth do they get upset if the player/agent uses them? This is giving the players too much leverage. Put an end to them before they really spin out of control.
  10. I'm in the camp that Grossman should start next week with Griese ready to go if Grossman doesn't get out of his funk in a big hurry. I don't think it's all Grossman's fault. The inability to give Grossman time to throw seems to have had an affect on Grossman that he seems to always here footsteps (whether they are there or not) when he drops back in the pocket. Some of his dump passes to the backfield receivers have been downright pathetic. He's got a great receiver corps to throw to. He needs to find these guys and often. That's what he was doing early in the season and there's no reason he shouldn't be doing that now. Especially with Bradley now in the mix.
  11. He no longer has the range to play CF.
  12. It's time for some fresh, hot Schmidt rumors. The guy needs some major attention at this very moment. Come on, Hendry!
  13. A coup is getting a gold-glove shortstop for an aging pitcher with an 82 mph fastball. Viva la Hendry! That is awsome! :D :D That is awesome, but should be tossed in there somewhere in case Hendry is watching. :D
  14. I'm not interested in Ward, but would definitely like to see Church.
  15. It can't be ruled out altogether, but it's certainly much more difficult for the Cubs to get A-Rod than many other teams if A-Rod is truly on the market. The Cubs would need to send all their top prospects to the Marlins, Dontrelle Willis would have to go the Yankees, with A-Rod to the Cubs. That's about the only way it happens.
  16. Even with new management, Tampa always asks for way too much in return for their players. My prediction is Baldelli and Crawford will still be Rays next year and Upton won't have a job. They can't go super cheap all the time. Baldelli and Crawford are no longer super cheap. And because they are no longer super cheap, their value is no longer two frontline starters with 3 or 4 cheap years ahead of them. I'd love to have either guy, but it's definitely not worth overspending to get them.
  17. The White Sox are in a much better position than the Cubs to land A-Rod. What do we have to offer that could beat the White Sox offers. The Sox have a good 3b prospect. We don't. The Sox have a solid pitching core, the Cubs do not. As much as I'd love to see A-Rod in a Cub uniform, I'm afraid it would take a 3rd team to make something work, and even then I'm not sure we would have the prospects to offer that other teams have. The Angels seem like the best trade partner for A-Rod, or possibly even the Dodgers. Penny, LaRoche, Loney would suit the Yankees nicely. A 1b, a 3b and a starting pitcher. Furcal, Nomar, Kent and A-Rod in the infield.
  18. If he was 28, I'd be all for it. However, his best years are way behind him.
  19. Good post. The order in which I evaluate the pitching talent available this offseason is: Schmidt, Jennings, Westbrook, Padilla, Suppan, Lilly, Meche, Batista I don't have an issue with Lilly if he's considered a 4th or 5th starter and they still plan on getting one of the top 3 in that list, preferably Schmidt. If Hendry is grooming him as his big signing, the pitching staff is in big trouble.
  20. The extended year takes a ton of the talent that would normally be available this year and bumps them to next year, would be my best guess.
  21. The Cubs traded the entire roster for Miguel Cabrera? I'd guess something to do with a stadium/relocation or a celebrity ex-Cub coaching hire. They just put in a brand new state of the art stadium. Sandberg as manager would be super cool. I might just have to get back to P-Town sometime this next Summer.
  22. Murton can run circles defensively around Moises Alou.
  23. I think it's awesome this game is on Monday. My Vikings fan friend who lost the bet will have to wear my Urlacher jersey and Bears face paint that Monday night. Didn't know the Bears were actually playing that night, which makes it even more awesome!
