  1. I don't see the Padres as a .500 team next year. Adrian Gonzalez, Todd Walker, Khalil Greene and Kevin Kouzmanoff around the infield, Jose Cruz Jr., Mike Cameron and Brian Giles around the outfield and Josh Bard behind the plate. Only thing going for San Diego right now is their starting pitchers. That offense stinks out loud.
  2. Kidding, my friend. Just kidding!
  3. I think the worst NL division will shift to the NL west this coming year. Outside of the Dodgers, no one is improving. The Giants are definitely not better. In fact, they are horrible at this point. The Padres are spinning their wheels. Colorado never is good enough to be all that competitive and Arizona is going super young. They will probably be very good in a few years, but not likely in 2007.
  4. Not to mention they can't play any of those three in center because of Slappy. Right. And they're looking at Luis Gonzalez. He is a bottom 5 GM in the majors imo. Let's see.... The Dodgers got Schmidt and Wolf The Cubs got Lilly and might get Meche when players are falling over themselves to play on the shores of Lake Michigan I will accept this as a basis of comparison. Have you forgotten about Cliff Floyd already?
  5. Or, they could try to do a Hudson/Giles package and give the CF job to Soriano. DeRosa could play RF to start the season and then slowly groom Pie into the spot in a platoon if or when he's ready.
  6. I thought the Kerry Wood and Wade Miller signings were reasonable.
  7. Not sure how Dempster makes sense for the Dodgers. He makes more than Broxton and Saito combined, and both are probably better at their jobs. One thing Colletti is good at is sticking it to the Cubs. Nomar, Lofton, Furcal, Milton Bradley and Greg Maddux. If the Cubs want Penny, I imagine they'll be asking for Gallagher and Veal.
  8. The White Sox are very interested in Rocco Baldelli. But, not enough to give up McCarthy for him. Maybe Floyd and Gonzalez will be part of a separate trade to get Baldelli?
  9. Take a look at his 2005 and 2006 seasons. Contrary to popular belief, Cub fans do give up on promising prospects. Bobby Brownlie rarely gets mentioned anymore. There comes a point when a guy just doesn't appear to be worth it anymore. Floyd gave up 14 HR's in 54 innings. Not good.
  10. Wow! The White Sox surely could have gotten more for Garcia than that. Maybe they just forgot to list Rowand as part of the deal.
  11. I think it knocks Floyd out of the picture. They still need a CF and someone who can back up in CF, which is probably Pagan. They could use a back up corner infielder as well. I see no reason for Cedeno to have a roster spot next year, which leaves Theriot as the only middle infield back up for the time being.
  12. No reason to move Miller to the pen. They already have a plethora of arms there now as it is. Wood Dempster Eyre Howry Cotts Ohman Wuertz Novoa all the kids and still quite possibly Glendon Rusch.
  13. I think I read that injuries have dropped his fastball from 96-98 down to 94, but he has a really good breaking ball to go with it. I think they believe he just hasn't put it altogether yet. Of course, I think if he hasn't put it together by now, why should we believe he will later, especially locked into a long term deal?
  14. I think he is. I don't understand why they didn't give him some time in CF last year. I'd actually like to see Pagan back for another year. Wish he got more playing time during the winter leagues.
  15. I'm still curious whether Pagan is in the plans for next year.
  16. Well, even though I think Baltimore owes us big time for past trades, I'm not really expecting much for Bynum.
  17. I don't know who I rate higher, Marshall or Lilly. Probably Lilly at this point.
  18. I pray Prior and Miller come to ST healthy, Guzman wins the 5th starter job and we then have a 10m Glendon Rusch sitting on the end of the bench. If Prior and Miller come healthy, you have 5 starters without Guzman. If Lilly is the 10m Glendon Rusch sitting on the end of the bench and Zambrano, Prior, Miller, Hill, Guzman are the other starters, who am I leaving out? LILLY Then I guess you missed what I was praying for. I hope Prior, Miller and Guzman all beat Lilly out of a job, because when healthy, I believe they are all better pitchers than Lilly.
  19. I know you are a mod, but you really aren't funny. Thanks to you also for setting me straight.
  20. Thanks for the 3rd grade comment! Thanks for not getting a joke. A previous post already said he would be okay. Classy bro, classy! Someone in the hospital is no joke! It is as simple as that! Thanks for setting me straight.

  23. Too much cotton candy and merry-go-round. Just what I thought.

  25. Maddux was very susceptble to the long ball, which would have a big impact on his ERA moving to such a pitcher's park.
