  2. There are actually two positions left. CF and SS.
  3. The difference is, you might be leading the game 1-0. I can live with Soriano leading off and leading the game 1-0. I can't live with Izturis being the automatic out before Lee even gets his bat out of the rack.
  4. While I agree with what you're saying, it most certainly won't be a Murton/Baldelli deal. Lots of pitching, no doubt.
  5. Oh man, I hope not. ](*,) While I would prefer the emphasis be on OBP, I'd love to have Baldelli. He's young enough to improve his plate discipline.
  6. Floyd AND Daryle Ward? Hardly seems like there's going to be room for both. Even with Jones likely being traded, they still need a CF and someone that can back up CF. I suppose Theriot could back him up and back up middle infield as well, but Floyd and Ward to me is a bit redundant.
  7. Maybe his speed? He does have tremendous speed and possibly beats out a high percentage of ground balls?
  8. I think they've given up on Upton at SS. They traded for Ben Zobrist who they really like at SS. With that said, I'd love to have BJ Upton at short.
  9. LA is showing interest in Vernon Wells now, also. Kemp and Penny are the rumor from Rotoworld.
  10. They have a new GM now and I believe you are thinking of the old regime down there. The new group is a little more willing to work out deals. I haven't seen that little more willingness to work out deals yet. Maybe it will just take holding out on them a bit more. Right now, they appear to be asking for the moon for their players.
  11. Unfortunately, with the options of DeRosa, Murton and Izturis, I think management might prefer Izturis because of his ability to hit left handed and move the ball to the right side against RHP. As sad as this commentary is, it wouldn't shock me at all. But, it will anger me to no end.
  12. And Izturis should always come to the plate in a game before Lee or Ramirez do.
  13. I am so looking forward to Lee coming to the plate with no one on base if Soriano and Izturis are batting 1/2. To do anything different would be stupid considering how well our 1/2 combo has worked the last few years.
  14. The Sox don't need Tavares. They have Sweeney and Anderson. I'd almost guarantee they have another deal working. That gives the Sox Gavin Floyd, Jason Hirsh, Gio Gonzalez, Taylor Buchholz, Willy Taveras and their own prospects to get someone big.
  15. Rotoworld is now saying that Jason Hirsch is being added to the deal for Garland. Just wow. I hope they do it. Williams will have pulled off another great trade if that happens. Rotoworld is quoting Ken Rosenthal, btw.
  16. Because Hendry's job is on the line and he wants a veteran in there. What is scary is where they go if Meche is out of the picture. I'd really hate to see them waste money on Weaver or Marquis because they didn't get Meche.
  17. I still think the Sox are collecting prospects to make a run at a big CF. Andruw Jones, Vernon Wells, Rocco Baldelli come to mind. We, here at NSBB, know that Tavares isn't any good, but for some reason, teams like speed in CF and at the top of the order, so having a CF to send along with Gio Gonzalez, Gavin Floyd and Taylor Buchholz might be what will get them what they want.
  18. I don't know, Colleti stockpiled middle infielders in the past. I wonder if he will do the same with corner OF's. He already has...Ethier, Gonzo, Kemp, Loney, Marlon Anderson, Repko, Werth And Pierre.
  19. Not sure why he would do that, but hey, good for the Royals to make a huge splash.
  20. Yeah, these people are really weird on who they value. They are glad Bochy is gone, yet he has done miracles with mediocre teams. Peavy is in the dog house. They never gave Barfield a chance. Giles doesn't do enough (which they pretty much knew since almost all of his fly balls are caught at the warning track in Petco), the list goes on and on. They also never saw the value Loretta provided for the team when he was there. Look at how god awful good his numbers were in Petco those two years he was there. And when I watched him play, he became one of my favorite players in the game. Always in the right place at the right time in the field. Just a real heads up player. Fundamentally sound. That said, I doubt Peavy is going anywhere.
  21. The rumor that was floating around here for awhile was Peavy and Adrian Gonzalez for Manny Ramirez. I don't think it really had any legs, but the Padres fans I spoke with thought it would be wonderful. They aren't happy with Peavy. They are calling Young their #1.
  22. Kemp and Loney, at least. Everything I have read says the OF will be Gonzo/Pierre/Ethier. That is a mediocre OF, at best. Coletti is a fool. At this point, I wouldn't be shocked to see an outfield of Repko, Pierre and Gonzalez. I'm going to really crack up laughing if Lieberthal steals all of Martin's at bats as well.
  23. Wow, Pierre and Gonzalez blocking Ethier, Kemp and Loney. Just wow.
  24. Could you just see the quotes from Ozzie when Bonds informs him he's not playing today?
