    I recognize 4 people there. Most of them are all-time record holders or setters, ie, Harimoto had 3,000 hits. Was Nomo better than Wang? depends on how much you like wang . . . i actually have no serious answer for your question :oops:

    I really don't want this to happen. yikes. my optimism that this was just one of those many lets-see-what-happens claims is diminishing. It still could be, a source speculating that we "could be attempting to work out a trade" doesn't hold a ton of water. Just enough to make me worry a bit this afternoon. The nice thing about August trade speculation is that rumors don't typically last more than 47 hours. :)

    I think the main reason you were criticized for that order was D-Lee hitting 7th. We need to ride out this slump -- he's still the best hitter in the lineup when Sori and A-ram are out.

    It's nearly mid-August, they're all hurting one way or another... At least that's what you hear everyone say about the grueling 162 game season at this point in the year. But, yeah, Derrek isn't playing like himself. He's either hurt or is letting a slump affect his mechanics; his swings (and non-swings) don't like him.

    As far as I can tell, the problem with Soriano and the batting order is moreso a problem with manager(s) not putting him in the middle. For strategic reasons, I'm actually not entirely opposed to him hitting leadoff. But since Theriot can carry the OBP/speed weight, why not fix him into the spot?

    That's the point. Sure being a half game out of the division isn't a "dark time," but we lost a couple bad games in a row, you'd never know it around here.

    Not flawless, but it's still fun to see Kerry go out there and be pretty effective.

    how is a relevant pun-nickname not funny, but peoples' reactions to a sporting event are? Humor is so hard to define. It's... funny like that. alright, is laughable better? pathetic? inane? meh, i was just picking on you. nicknames are rarely all that clever -- usually some play on aliteration, adding a "y" to the player's name or simply shortening it to one syllable. As a nickname, I think "Barroid" only bothers people who like to argue the "innocent til proven guilty!!" Just an impression of mine. IOW, I don't see why it's all that bad, it lends a rarely seen level of cleverness to the bland nickname game. But they are just nicknames, so it really doesn't matter :)

    No, he's busy being the hitting coach for the nationals. Seriously. Dear lord, who thought of hiring him as a hitting coach? dude's the all-time leader in pinch hits! All-time. And why was he pinch hitting so often? Because he wasn't good enough to be a starter. EB was definitely just joking right there. Sorry, sometimes I'm bad at picking up internet sarcasm. the "dude" is usually a good indicator of sarcasm around here :)

    Man, can't even begin to imagine the type of 3B Hendry might be looking at post deadline. Pedro Feliz? For better or worse, Branyon just fell off the market (to the Phils).

    The only ones out of that group of people I would want would be Dunn and Stairs. Dunnis not a very likely option, so STAIRS it is. I can't see how Stairs would make it all the way through the AL to us, in the waivers process. I'd like him quite a bit, too, I just can't imagine it.
