  1. Milton Bradley, Brian Giles, Rafael Furcal, and B.J. Ryan, please.
  2. I can just see Hendry, all loaded, after having traded for Kaz Matsui. "Whaddya mean the wrong Matsui?"
  3. The lack of interest Cubs management is showing towards bringing Nomar back or signing Giles is very disappointing. What evidence do you have that the Cubs have a lack of interest in signing Giles?
  4. Cubs - 4 years, $60 million
  5. Do you know when he was rostered? If I had to guess I'd say it was after '03, and therefore he has one left. Yes, October 2003.
  6. Am I correct that Welly and Leicester are out of options as well? Also, does anyone know what the option situation with Williams is? Yes, Wellemeyer and Leicester are out of options. Leicester was so bad last year that he's likely to clear waivers, though. I imagine Wellemeyer would be claimed, though. I don't know whether Williams has an option remaining, but, if he does, he may have enough service time that he'd need to clear waivers before you can option him (like Ohman last April and Patterson this past summer). Not sure if he has enough, though.
  7. Angel Guzman is not out of options. Angel Guzman is not out of options. Angel Guzman is not out of options. Angel Guzman is not out of options. Angel Guzman is not out of options. 8. (1) With Pedro and Reyes, there is already a Dominican presence on the team, which is very important to him Aramis!
  9. Check out his strikeout rate.
  10. There's plenty of money to sign both Furcal and Giles.
  11. I don't hate Millwood, but he's had injury problems, he's going to get too much money for too many years, and in his "great" 2005 season, he didn't even pitch 200 innings - in the AL, where he should be able to pitch even more innings. He's played nine years in the majors. In six of those, his ERA was >4.
  12. Wouldn't Millwood look great in Cubbie Blue? If by "great" you mean "awful", then yes.
  13. During this period, other teams cannot talk money with declared free agents, but they can express interest and have general discussions about length of contract, role, etc. Or so I understand.
  14. Yes, because what the Cubs are desperately short on is guys with good slugging percentages. Stone gets dumber and dumber every day.
  15. The key is to have 12 pitchers that Crusty trusts. If the 12th guy is Wellemeyer, Fuzznuts isn't going to use him. If Wood is in the rotation, 12 pitchers is going to be an unfortunate necessity.
  16. I don't believe Jones would really be a top defender in CF. I do think he's a decent fallback option for RF if... ...you can find him a good, cheap platoon partner with the defensive profile to play RF. ...Jones gets fewer than 25 PAs all season versus LHP. ...your middle infielders hit 1-2 in the batting order. ...your CF has enough offensive oomph to hit fifth. ...Jones doesn't cost more than $3.5 per season for two years. Furcal-Castillo-Lee-Ramirez-Bradley-Murton-Jones-Barrett Meeting all of those criteria will be very difficult.
  17. There is a rumor that the Rangers have soured on Hank Blalock. It has been said the Phillies will be seeking a good, young third baseman if they choose to trade Bobby Abreu. It's unlikely that the Cubs have enough parts to fill in, but there is three-way deal potential there. **Idea stolen from a fellow poster**
  18. neifi and macias will file. Joe is not a free agent. Unless he's released outright or traded (ha!), we won't have a decision on him until mid-December.
  19.
  20. The option is for 13.5 million with a 3 mil buyout. He would have to have one heck of a year to justify $13.5 million. The decision will be whether he's worth $10.5 million.
  21. And whatever happened to Laura San Giacomo? She was probably swallowed up by her enormous breasts.
  22. I dont know man isn't 4 years kinda steep for a player who will be 39 going into the last season of his contract? 38
  23. No, he means Kit DeLuca, Julia Roberts' character's hooker friend in "Pretty Woman", played by the lovely Laura San Giacomo.
