  1. RealGM.com isn't bad.
  2. If your cable provider offers NBA League Pass, you should be getting a free preview through the 7th or 8th, so you'll get to see the game tonight.
  3. Good news on Matsuzaka. What do you know about Igawa? His numbers look good. If he has good stuff, it would be nice to add him and Matsuzaka. Z, Matsuzaka, Hill, Igawa, Prior/Miller...
  4. World Series Hero: Neifi Perez
  5. This isn't Russia is it, Danny?
  6. Maybe I jussed missed it, but did they skip it at Game 1 of the WS? I saw America the Beautiful, then commercials, then baseball.
  7. Did they skip the anthem?
  8. vance_the_cubs_fan wrote: ndistops has every right to act the way he did. Others have every right to comment on it. He can act that way all he wants. He also wonders why many don't like ND. His smugness was exactly what many of us have experienced from ND fans and it's the reason most of us hope ND falls flat. Smug like that?
  9. I'm not saying this will or even should really happen, but why do we act like teams don't trade within the division? It happens every year. Why did the Pirates tarde Aramis within the division? Why did the Marlins trade Delgado within the division? Why did the Dodgers trade Green within the division? Most teams take the best offer regardless of who it is from.
  10. Why do they have to get a 3B in the ARod trade. If they got a potential ace like Dontrelle Willis and some bullpen help, couldn't they sign Soriano to play third, or shift Cano to 3rd and Soriano to second? Or sign Nomar to play third?
  11. Mench won't be back with the Brewers, Nix is awful, Gross is a 4th outfielder, Clark is going to be traded because he is in Yost's doghouse and barely played down the stretch, and Gwynn Jr needs to at least start the year in AAA. Right now they have Corey Hart as a lock, and Bill Hall may play OF, but he is a better fit at SS, 3B if they wan't to give JJ Hardy another shot at SS. The Brewers need at least 1 outfielder if not two. Ohka is also a free agent who they are not expected to resign.
  12. How close are these things typically?
  13. No. I don't think we have to. I think if we trade for ARod it will look something like this. Cubs Get: ARod, $4M per year Yankees Get: Dontrelle Willis, Scott Eyre Marlins Get: Felix Pie, Sean Gallagher, Another Cub prospect
  14. I was watching ESPN News and they reported the Cubs interviewed Ryne Sandberg before hiring Piniella. I wonder if Ryno would be considered for the hitting coach job. I'm not endorsing that, but it is interesting that he was one of only a few people to get an interview for the manager position.
  15. The Brewers payroll will be at about $60 Million in 07, they were at 55 Million in 06 so they don't have much wiggle room and will be looking to add two outfielders, a lot of bullpen help, and maybe a starter. Does anyone think they might look to shed Sheets salary? I think he will make about $12 Million in 07. His stuff is nasty, but health is an issue. Sheets would be a risk due to his health, but when he pitches he is dominating. This could also be a way to moves Jones, as the Brewers will need a few outfielders. How about Jones, Marshall, Ohman for Sheets. I think Milwaukee would do that trade. They would add a RF, bullpen help, and a young fairly productive starter for a guy who is great, but has really hurt them by taking up so much salary and not being able to start 30 games the last 2 years. Sheets, Z, Hill, and Prior could be filthy if they are healthy. We would only be taking on about $5M, so money would still be there for 2 of Schmidt, Zito, Matsuzaka, ARod, Soriano...
  16. GAMENIGHT!!!! On NFL Primetime they said there are tons of Bears fans down there buying up tickets. It could be a good scene tonight. BEARS 31 - Cardinals 13 Rex - 20/33, 227 yards, 2TD's TJ - 103 rushing yards, TD Ced - 38 rushing yards, TD Has anyone heard this Bears rap? http://www.bighitbuda.com/index.html It's pretty corney, but what sports related songs aren't? Some of the pics on the site might not be safe for work if you have a really really really sensitive boss.
  17. I'm sure most here will appreciate that sentiment. :) Hadn't heard about this. Pretty cool. Edit - My bad, just saw that CubColtPacer had already posted it. I'll leave the post in for the excerpts. Ron Turner for Cubs Hitting Coach!
  18. Well, thats disappointing but not unexpected. Oh well, lets put that $115 Million roster together and it shouldn't matter too much. If the talent is there he will be the Jim Leyland of 07.
  19. I think if Dunn gets traded we will be surprised by how little the Reds get for him. I don't think they will get an offer much better than Jones and Marhsall would be. There are too many baseball people that value batting average and lack of strke outs, especially leading teams that can afford his $10M salary. Now is the time to get Dunn in Cubbie Blue. Then get JD Drew in CF.
  20. It would be very hard to lose with a $115 Million payroll in this division. They could get Drew for RF (giving up Jones and others), Keep Ramirez, Upgrade CF with Jones or Wells, Sign Zito or Schmidt, extend Zambrano, Keep Wood, and add another pitcher like a Viciente Padilla. The still might even have room to upgrade a middle infield spot, say with Luis Castillo. 2B Castillo LF Murton 1B Lee RF Drew 3B Aramis CF Wells C Barrett SS Izturis Zambrano, Zito, Padilla, Hill, Prior Excellent.
  21. Best defense in the league. Best offense in the league. Maybe the best special teams in the league. Whoever plays QB for Arizona is in trouble with their o-line and our D. Bears should score 30 on the Cardinals D. Early Prediction Bears 34 - Cardinals 10.
  22. 1. Cabrera 2. ARod 3. Manny 4. Matsuzaka 5. Soriano
  23. GAMEDAY!!!! Final thoughts... Bears 27 - Bills 3 Rex - 19/32 - 248 yards, 2TD/1INT TJ 26-104 yards, 1TD Ced 12 - 41 yards
  24. They lost to Wisconsin 40something to 9. I don't think it made TV.
  25. Leyland wears cleats. What a great manager. Who hires these announcers?
