    I could see that happening. If they are going to go with that middle infield, I would hope for an upgrade in CF along with Lee.

Soriano Barrett Lee Aramis Sheffield Jones Murton Izturis Pitcher I think if I were filling out the lineup card on this team it would be more like: Murton, Barrett, Lee, Aramis, Soriano, Sheffield, Jones, Izturis, Pitcher.

    The FA market for SP is going to be really bad. Schimdt and Zito will get overpaid. Marquis will get way more than he should. Weaver, Padilla are guys who could be cheap. *edit* Trade for Lackey. :D Don't forget the top pitcher from Asia who might be coming over. Maddux, Ohka, Meche, Mussina are all free agents.

    I don't think that is a good lineup. Counsell's best days are long gone. Ceaser cannot hit 2nd on a good team. He simply can't.

    Who do you have in mind? I could see Hendry signing 2 mid-level pitchers like Ohka and Meche rather than 1 Schmidt/Zito.

    Trot Nixon coupled with Jacque Jones = every team pitching lefties against the Cubs Murton would be there to spell one of them. I guess it would have to be Nixon since Murt can't play center. Nixon's .400 OBP would be nice in the 2 spot, and I bet he doesn't make over $7M in 07.

    It's not really "journalism" but Mike Murphy hit the nail on the head on the Score this morning. He was very critical of the return in the Maddux trade basing his argument around OBP. He said the Cubs simply "don't get it," and will be the last team to figure it out. Sabermetrics has been around for decades and the Cubs are clueless. He also said you simply can't afford to have both Cedeno and Ceaser on the team because neither one can bat above the 8th spot on a good team. There are some people in the sports media who get it, but there are far more who don't.

Make a deal for Tejeda, and move Izturis to 2b. They reportedly turned down Oswalt. They also reportedlyturned down Santana. What do you want to give up for him? Zambrano?
